Ken Nix, our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser (Certification #V34-075), is skilled in handling total loss car appraisals, auto total loss appraisal insurance claim disputes, and negotiations for a wide range of vehicles, including those associated with Copart and IAAI. We’ve noticed that valuations for specific vehicle types, particularly Diesel Trucks with 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, are often significantly lower than their true market value. This is where our strategic use of the appraisal clause in your policy becomes crucial to challenge these undervalued estimates effectively.

Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

I had a great experience working with Ken. The process took longer than expected, but Ken stayed on top of the negotiations and kept working my case. In the end, he was able to increase my total loss settlement by about 20%. I'm very happy with the outcome and would definitely recommend Leverage to anyone who feels their vehicle was undervalued by their insurance company. One thing I'd add is to be patient as the appraisal process isn't quick, and some delays are outside the appraiser's control. In my case, the final result made the wait worthwhile. Thanks again, Ken!
Response from the owner:Bernadeau, thank you so much for the fantastic review. I really enjoyed working with you, and I appreciate you sticking with the process. While it took longer than either of us would have liked, I'm glad we didn't settle early for just a couple thousand dollars more and instead continued pushing for what I believed your Tesla Model Y was actually worth. In the end, we were able to increase your total loss settlement by over $5,500, and I am thrilled the extra patience paid off. One thing I would like to add for anyone reading this review is that the length of an appraisal clause claim is often determined by how responsive the opposing appraiser is. Once my appraisal is complete, I cannot force someone on the other side to answer emails or return phone calls. Unfortunately, I have noticed a few companies becoming slower and slower during negotiations while also advertising in our area how quickly they complete appraisals for consumers. I also encourage everyone to do a little homework before hiring an appraiser. Ask if they are licensed to appraise vehicles in Oregon and request their Oregon appraiser license number. If that information is not readily available on their website or they are unwilling to provide it, I would encourage you to ask why. Also ask whether they or their company perform appraisal work for insurance companies or receive any revenue from insurance companies. In my opinion, an independent appraiser should be willing to answer those questions openly and honestly. I have also seen situations where policyholders received very quick settlements from companies advertising fast turnaround times, only for me to later obtain substantially higher settlements after becoming involved. In my opinion, a fast result does not always mean the best result. I would rather spend a little more time fighting for the highest credible value that is owed to a client, than settle a claim quickly for less than I believe it is worth. Thank you again for putting your trust in me. I am grateful for the opportunity to help you challenge an undervalued insurance settlement, and I wish you nothing but the best moving forward. Kind regards, Ken

I highly recommend Ken from Leverage Auto Appraisals Total Loss Appraiser LLC. If you’re dealing with insurance pressure to close a claim quickly, trust Ken and his process—even when it feels uncomfortable. I’m so glad I listened to him. Ken fought hard for my dispute and made sure I received what I truly deserved for my Chevy truck. He is extremely knowledgeable about the insurance and appraisal industry and took the time to explain things clearly. I’m not great at reading fine print, and without his guidance, I could have easily ended up paying much more out of pocket. Beyond the appraisal itself, Ken generously shared valuable insights about how he conducts business and the importance of family and integrity. Those conversations had nothing to do with appraisals, but I truly appreciated them—they meant a lot. Thank you, Ken, for fighting for us and for going above and beyond. Your dedication and honesty make a real difference.

Response from the owner:Vitri, thank you so much for the thoughtful review and for trusting me with your Insurance total loss claim on your 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss. I also want to thank you for uploading photos of your truck. Beautiful Silverado and honestly a shame that it was totaled. Photos like yours really help people see these are real clients, real vehicles, and real appraisal clause disputes here in Oregon. Sadly, there are companies out there purchasing reviews or creating misleading impressions online, so I truly appreciate clients like you who take the time to share genuine experiences. I’m really glad you trusted the process even when the insurance company pressure started building to settle quickly. That pressure is exactly where many consumers end up accepting less than they deserve. In your case, we were able to secure a $5,132 increase over the original CCC valuation, which made a significant difference on your Silverado claim. Helping Oregon drivers challenge low insurance offers and navigate the appraisal clause process is exactly why I do this work. I also sincerely appreciate your comments about our conversations outside of the appraisal itself. Family, integrity, and trying to do right by people have always mattered more to me than simply processing claims. I have never worked for insurance companies and have never accepted revenue from insurance companies in any capacity because I believe remaining fully independent is critical to being truly unbiased for consumers. Lately, it has come to my attention that several appraisers operating in Oregon are also performing work for insurance companies while simultaneously marketing themselves to consumers without fully disclosing those relationships. Personally, I believe that creates a serious conflict of interest when someone is representing a consumer against the same insurance companies they are also receiving business from. That is one of the main reasons I have always chosen to work exclusively for vehicle owners and policyholders rather than insurers. Thank you again for the trust, the great conversation, and the opportunity to help. Wishing you and your family nothing but the best moving forward. Kind regards, Ken

Ken Nix from Leverage Auto Appraisas is the man!!! He was able to negotiate a fair price for my totaled Toyota Tundra, he made a terrifying and stressful process look easy by doing the work with my insurance. Ken made sure insurance don’t keep your money, highly recommend using Ken for your appraisal needs, he will deliver. Insurance Offer: $16,296.00 Settlement: $20,600.00 Increase: $4,304.00

Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the awesome review, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. And thank you for posting the photos of your truck, that Tundra was a very nice truck. Always makes it a little tougher when you see how clean and well kept a vehicle was before a total loss. I am really glad I could help make a stressful situation a lot easier for you. Going from $16,296 to $20,600 is a strong result, and exactly why it is so important to challenge those initial insurance offers. Too often they come in low, and without pushing back, people end up settling for less than what their vehicle is actually worth. I truly appreciate your trust and the recommendation. It means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

I was happy to get a fair settlement with my insurance company.
Response from the owner:Ian, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, I really appreciate it. I am glad we were able to get you to a fair settlement, that is always the goal. I always tell people, choosing the right appraiser matters. There are a lot of auto appraisers out there doing all kinds of work, divorce, probate, classic cars, you name it. But total loss claims are their own animal. It is kind of like needing open heart surgery and being given three choices, a dentist, a chiropractor like Alan on Two and a Half Men, or a heart specialist. I mean… you are probably not picking Alan. Ha ha. I am really glad you trusted me with your claim and that we were able to get things where they should have been. Thank you again, and I am always here if you ever need help down the road. Kind regards, Ken

Ken did an excellent job negotiating a better price for my vehicle. The lowball offer the insurance company tried to give me intially was insulting. It was several thousand below what Ken was able to evaluate the vehicle at. If you want someone who will fight for a fair settlement, Ken Nix is your man.
Response from the owner:Josh, thank you for the awesome review. I really appreciate you trusting me with your 2024 Subaru Outback claim. I am glad we were able to increase the settlement from $29,572 to $34,000, putting another $4,428 in your pocket. This was one of the tougher negotiations because the opposing appraisal company was not eager to move from their position. It would have been easy to accept a smaller increase and move on, but I truly believed your vehicle was worth more. Sometimes it just takes persistence and a willingness to keep fighting until the evidence speaks for itself. Thank you again for your recommendation. Reviews like yours help other people realize they do not have to simply accept a lowball total loss offer. Hopefully you never need me again, but if you do, I will be here to help. Kind regards, Ken

Ken nix and his team helped me out tremendously with my 2007 Subaru. Limited edition STI and my total loss claim. He was able to appraise over $5000 above what state farm had originally submitted. I'm so grateful and thankful for Ken Nix and his team and his services. Excellent job and excellent service. I will definitely suggest and recommend using them for any total loss claim.
Response from the owner:Nick, thank you so much for the awesome review and for trusting me with your 2007 Subaru WRX STI Limited. I am really glad we were able to increase the value by **more than $5,000** over the original offer. Vehicles like yours deserve someone who understands what makes them special, and I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to fight for its true market value. While I am happy with the appraisal result, I also know our work is not completely finished. I have always believed that just because the appraisal is over does not mean I stop helping my clients. Whenever I think there is something more that can be done, I will continue to point people in the right direction, help research information, and do whatever I reasonably can to help them move forward. I cannot provide legal advice, but I will always do my best to help you understand the process and the options available to you. Thank you again for your recommendation and your trust. Clients like you are the reason I enjoy what I do. Hopefully you never need me again, but if you ever have questions down the road, do not hesitate to give me a call. And even though I have no ablity to negotiate the salvage, I'll continue to be here for you until we get the issue resolved. Kind regards, Ken

Ken Nix is a miracle worker. He got me over $4,373 over what my insurance was offering. He clearly explained the process to me. I have great confidence in his work and would recommend him to anyone.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. Miracle worker might be a little generous, but I will gladly accept it and try not to let it go to my head. I like to think of myself more as BATMAN. lol My goal is always to explain the process clearly so you know what is happening and why the insurance company’s offer may not reflect the true value of your vehicle. I also appreciate you providing the photo of your Infiniti. Details matter in a total loss insurance claim, and every piece of information helps tell the full story. I am very happy we were able to increase your settlement by $4,373 and help get you a much fairer result. Kind regards, Ken

Ken was absolutely the right choice for this situation and if I ever get in another car accident like this, he’s getting a call much sooner in the process. Ken was knowledgeable, thorough, and proactive. I’m so thankful to him for helping me deal with a nightmare of an insurance negotiation.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much, Hannah. I really appreciate the kind words and your trust in me. I’m glad I could help take some of the stress out of what had already become a nightmare dealing with State Farm. There were definitely some things in the CCC valuation that did not make sense to me. The mileage adjustments were extremely inconsistent, with some working out to as little as one cent per mile up to five cents per mile on lower mileage vehicles, while the comparable vehicles varied by tens of thousands of miles. It seemed it always just works out to being to their advantage also. They also applied a $571 condition deduction against your Genesis when it was in exceptional condition, and then took an additional condition deduction. These blanket deductions are frustrating because they do not necessarily reflect the actual condition of the vehicles being compared, especially your car. Your Genesis was a really nice car, and I’m glad I could help challenge the valuation and get you closer to a fair settlement. Hopefully you never need me again, but if you do, I’ll be here. Thank you again, Hannah! Kind regards, Ken

I was recently in a car accident that unfortunately totaled my truck. Thankfully, no one was hurt. I assumed my insurance company would handle everything smoothly, but from the start, I felt like I got the runaround. When they finally gave me a vehicle appraisal, the offer seemed far too low. I explained all the features, add-ons, and the truck’s low mileage, but none of that seemed to matter—they continued to make excuses and stick with a lowball offer. I felt completely stuck until a friend of my wife’s suggested I call Ken Nix. Under our policy, we had the right to get a second appraisal from an independent professional if we disagreed with the insurance company’s valuation. Reaching out to Ken was the best decision we could have made. He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and truly fought for our family. Thanks to his expertise and persistence, we received a fair payout that reflected the true value of our truck. We are extremely grateful for everything Ken did—his communication, dedication, and skill made the entire process so much easier. It’s reassuring to know there are people like Ken out there who will stand up for you when you need it most. If you’re feeling lost or want a second opinion, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Ken Nix a call. He knows exactly what he’s doing and genuinely cares about helping his clients.
Response from the owner:Louis, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. First and most importantly, I am very glad no one was hurt. A totaled truck is bad enough, but when the insurance company gives you the runaround and then refuses to recognize the low mileage, features, and added equipment, it can make a stressful situation feel ten times worse. I am grateful your wife’s friend pointed you in my direction, and I am honored you trusted me to help with your total loss appraisal clause claim here in Oregon. I truly do care about my clients and their families. My cousin, Harold Wayne Nix, was an esteemed attorney who passed away last month, and he spent his life fighting for the underdog. He was my role model in that way, and I try to carry that same spirit into every insurance claim car value dispute I handle. Thank you again for trusting Leverage Auto Appraisals. I am so glad we were able to stand up for the true value of your truck and help get your family a fair payout. Kind regards, Ken

I highly recommend consulting with Ken Nix before accepting any insurance offer. My vehicle was damaged by a tow truck operator and declared totaled by State Farm. They offered me a ridiculously low settlement for a vehicle that I had purchased just one month prior. After struggling with my claims specialist for several weeks, I reached out to Ken and he was able increase my settlement to $5,009 from State Farm's initial offer $2,176. Ken knows the business extremely well and will make sure you get a fair offer.
Response from the owner:Alan, thank you for the kind words and the strong recommendation. Getting a low offer after your vehicle was damaged by a tow truck operator and declared a total loss is enough to make anyone feel like they are getting steamrolled. Buying the vehicle only one month before the loss makes that original $2,176 offer from State Farm even harder to swallow. I am really glad you reached out before accepting it. Increasing the settlement to $5,009 was a strong result and well over a 50 percent increase. I do apologize that the process took longer than normal because of my own wreck, and I truly appreciate your patience while I worked through that. Helping Oregon drivers with an insurance claim car value dispute is exactly why I do this work, and I am happy we could get you a much fairer outcome. Kind regards, Ken

I recently worked with Ken Mix after my 2017 Nissan Leaf was totaled in an accident that was 100% the other driver's fault. State Farm's initial settlement offer was far too low, and I was struggling to get a fair value for my vehicle. I actually used an AI tool to help me research my options, and it flagged Ken as one of the top independent appraisers in the region, noting his consistent victories in disputing lowball claims against State Farm. Ken came highly recommended, and he absolutely delivered. The story of how we started working together is pretty funny. At first, Ken honestly didn't think he could take my case. Because of the highly volatile nature of the market for older EVs—specifically the Nissan Leaf—he wasn't sure he could find the data to beat State Farm's quote. Instead of just taking my money, he generously gave me a brilliant counter-strategy: he told me to report our initial consultation directly to State Farm to show them I was speaking with an independent appraiser, predicting that just knowing I had an expert in my corner might scare them into raising the Actual Cash Value (ACV) by $1,000 on the spot. But it gets better. About a day later, Ken emailed me urgently. He had kept digging into the data on his own time, completed some deeper research, and realized he could absolutely get me a deal. He was so confident after reviewing the numbers that he told me that if I paid his fee, he could almost guarantee an appraisal that would cover the cost, making it entirely worthwhile and risk-free for me. He took the case, conducted a meticulous appraisal, and completely shattered State Farm's lowball offer—ultimately securing an additional $1,702 on top of their first valuation. His report paid for itself multiple times over, just like he said it would. Beyond being an absolute master of his craft, Ken is a fascinating person to talk to. He has an incredible background, a unique education, and a wealth of diverse life experiences that make him an absolute pleasure to work with. He genuinely cares about getting justice for his clients. If you are dealing with a total loss or a difficult insurance claim in the Seattle/Tacoma area, do yourself a favor and call Ken Mix. He is the absolute best in the business. Thank you, Ken!
Response from the owner:John, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an incredible review. I truly appreciate your trust, and I am glad we were ultimately able to increase the value of your 2017 Nissan Leaf by an additional **$1,702**. I have to admit, this claim almost never happened. When we first spoke, I honestly did not think I could build a strong enough appraisal to justify asking you to hire me. The market for older Nissan Leafs can be extremely volatile, and I never want someone to spend money on an appraisal unless I genuinely believe I can help. After our conversation, though, I just could not let it go. I kept researching on my own time and eventually found stronger comparable vehicles much closer to your area. Those local comparables completely changed my opinion of the claim, so I reached back out because I believed we finally had enough evidence to move forward. I am really glad I did. I originally thought we might be able to improve the settlement by around a thousand dollars, so I was happy we were able to exceed that and secure an additional $1,702 instead. The only part that still frustrates me is that, unlike Oregon, Washington does not require insurance companies to reimburse consumers for the reasonable cost of an appraisal when it results in a higher settlement. I have always believed that if the insurance company is proven wrong, the consumer should not have to bear the cost of proving it. In most cases I've been able to provide a strong enough argument, that insurance companies have reimbursed the appraisal fee in Washington, and I can't believe State Farm fought us on the reimbursement. Unfortunately, sometimes this happens on Washington State claims. Thank you again for your thoughtful review and recommendation. It was a pleasure working with you, and I truly enjoyed our conversations along the way. I wish you nothing but the best, and if you ever need anything in the future, you know how to reach me. Kind regards, Ken

Great experience. They were able to negotiate a value that was approximately 50% higher than what the insurance company initially offered. Would use them again, and I strongly recommend them.
Response from the owner:James, thank you so much for the great review and recommendation. I really appreciate you trusting me with your total loss claim. I am glad we were able to increase your settlement by approximately 50 percent over the original offer from your insurance company. Claims like yours are a good reminder that the first offer is not always the final offer. My job is to research the market, build a credible appraisal, and then stand behind that value during negotiations. It is always rewarding when that work results in a settlement that is much closer to what the vehicle is actually worth. Thank you again for your recommendation. It was a pleasure working with you, and I hope you never need my services again. But if you ever do, or if you know someone dealing with a total loss, I will be happy to help. Kind regards, Ken

Gresham Total Loss Appraisal – Advocating for Fair Vehicle Valuations in Gresham

Dealing with a total loss vehicle claim in Gresham can be a complex and stressful experience, especially when your insurance company’s compensation offer doesn’t align with the true car value or vehicle value. This challenge is all too familiar in Gresham, where vehicle owners often struggle to secure equitable compensation for their totaled vehicles from car accidents or events involving entities like Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Empowering Gresham Vehicle Owners:

  1. Challenging Inadequate Offers: When your insurance company’s valuation is unsatisfactory, the appraisal clause in your policy becomes a critical tool for disputing their offer.
  2. Right to Independent Appraisal: You, as a vehicle owner, have the right to pursue an independent appraisal at your expense, while your insurance company conducts its own.
  3. Umpire for Fair Resolution: If there’s a disagreement in appraisals, an unbiased umpire is selected to resolve the value dispute, with costs shared equally.
  4. Oregon Law in Your Favor: According to Oregon law, if the final appraised value of your vehicle is higher than the insurance company’s last offer, they are obligated to cover your appraisal costs.

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, led by Ken Nix, our experienced auto appraiser, we are dedicated to supporting Gresham’s vehicle owners. Our Free Total Loss Claim Review assists you in making informed decisions about contesting your claim, ensuring your rights are upheld.
