We’re Local in Oregon

When your vehicle is declared a total loss by your insurance company, particularly in the wake of a car accident or a stolen vehicle incident, it can be a stressful and confusing time. This declaration typically means that the cost of repairs could equal or even exceed your vehicle’s retail market value. In such scenarios, Leverage Auto Appraisals steps in as your ally, ensuring that you receive the full retail value of your car, encompassing all applicable Tax, Title, and Licensing Fees, a right strongly upheld in Oregon.

If you find yourself with an offer from your insurance company that seems unfairly low, remember that you are not without recourse. Our professional services in Portland, set against the backdrop of iconic local landmarks like the Portland Japanese Garden and the bustling Pearl District, provide a sense of familiarity and trust for our clients.

Leverage Auto Appraisals is here to assist. We’re not affiliated with any insurance companies, meaning our sole focus is on securing a fair settlement for you. Our expertise is particularly crucial in Oregon, where law mandates 100% reimbursement for appraisal costs if we manage to increase the value over the insurance company’s last offer by even a single cent.

Our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser, Ken Nix (Certification #V34-075), specializes in providing car appraisals for a range of situations including Totaled vehicle Insurance claims, Total Loss Appraisal Clause Disputes, and negotiation for stolen or totaled Trucks and Cars. We have noticed a trend with CCC ONE, Mitchell, and JD Powers valuations, particularly for Diesel Trucks with the 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, coming in at values as low as 30 percent of their true market value. This is where the appraisal clause in your policy becomes crucial, allowing you to challenge these lowball valuations effectively.

Don’t let an unfair offer set you back. If you’re in Portland, Oregon, and need assistance with a total loss claim, Leverage Auto Appraisals is your first step towards a fair settlement. Contact us now for a free Claim Review at (503) 567-8900. We are here to ensure that your car value or vehicle value reflects its true worth in the market, irrespective of the situation – be it a car accident, Copart, IAAI involvements, or other circumstances leading to your vehicle being totaled.

Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

Ken was excellent to work with and really is an expert in his field. He does everything he can to help and got me over $4,000 more than my insurance's initial offer. Highly recommend getting yourself a quality appraiser like Ken.

The whole process took more than 75 days but Ken was able to negotiate $13K more from the insurance company. Thanks!
Response from the owner: Thank you for taking the time to write a review Anshuman! It is truly appreciated. I share your frustration with the extended duration of the process, particularly for vehicles like yours, where it appears that the insurance company might be leveraging the payout period to their advantage. Wasn't always like this, and I hope it becomes easier again. We're just dealing with so many new people at the insurance companies and they aren't hiring as many local appraisers as the used to do. Luckily we worked with a local appraiser on this who understood our market, instead of someone from 1,000 miles away. My aim is always to streamline these proceedings, and it would indeed be faster if insurers acknowledged the rightful value of vehicles before it has to go to appraisal clause. Your trust in me handling your claim is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your patience and sticking with me.- Ken

So first of all Ken knew everyone in industry which set me at ease. Insurance tried to rip me off and give me 18150z Ken got me 26000 in little under 3 weeks. Extra 8000 almost. My man. Great job

Ken did a great job of explaining to me how and why my truck was worth more then they offered, and he was able to get me $3000 more then they had offered. Although he thought we could have done better I was satisfied with his work and approach. If I ever need these services again I will be giving Ken a call!
Response from the owner: I really think it was worth a little more, but the opposing appraiser had a comp that was close to Newport that I couldn't discredit. Local Oregon truck with no negative history or anything that I could find that was negative about the truck. If it had been in a prior collision, someone did a really good repair job, as usually I can find accident indicators and discredit a low comparable like that. Still a nice increase, but I hate it when I can't get what I really believe the vehicle to be worth. Thank you so much for the kind words and taking the time to write a review. - Ken

My son had his car stolen and the insurance company offered around $5k less then what was owed on the loan. Obviously, as a parent I wanted to do everything I could to help my son. After going back n' forth with the insurance company they mentioned I could get an independent appraisal of which I research and found Ken. He went above and beyond educating me that I could request a refund of the remaining service contract we purchased on the car. In following up with the dealer they agreed to credit us back the remaining amount of which we then found out we had GAP insurance. Ken Nix at that point could have easily just charged us for a appraisal anyway but rather declined stating it would just hold up the settlement process and may not benefit my son. Finding people with such high work ethic can be hard to find these days and I have complete confidence Ken would do everything necessary to get a client the highest payout if hired.
Response from the owner: Hi Chris, I deeply appreciate your thoughtful review and am glad to have been able to assist you and your son. It's always rewarding to help people navigate through challenging situations, even when it doesn't directly involve my services. Being able to provide guidance and support, paid or not, is a cornerstone of my professional ethos, especially when I can make the time.Lately, my availability has been more limited due to the influx of out-of-state appraisers who are not familiar with our unique market in the Pacific Northwest, and particularly in Oregon. Our region has its own set of market dynamics, including the absence of sales tax, which significantly impacts vehicle valuations. Additionally, many of these appraisers come from areas where the cost of living is substantially lower and road conditions differ notably, like places where roads are salted. This necessitates more extensive explanations and advocacy on behalf of my clients to ensure they receive fair settlements.I want to emphasize that my motivation for becoming a vehicle appraiser was not driven by financial gain but by a genuine desire to help people secure fair settlements. It's important to me that each client receives the attention and expertise needed to navigate these complex situations effectively.Thank you again for placing your trust in me. Your recognition of the effort and ethics behind my work is truly appreciated. Please remember, I'm here if you or your son need any further assistance in the future. thank you again, Ken

I was involved in a not at fault accident in September 2023. My insurance company was giving me the run around and offered me a very low price for my 2018 Toyota 4Runner premium. I contacted Ken Nix to get a professional and more accurate evaluation of my vehicle. I am glad I did. Ken was able to get me 4K more for my vehicle than the insurance company offered me. This allowed me to be able to pay off my vehicle and have money down to get a new one. Ken was down to earth and kind; he worked diligently to get me the best price for my vehicle. I absolutely recommend him to all who are being taken advantage of by their insurance companies. Ken will get you a fair price and fast.
Response from the owner: Thank you for the Kind words Kirstie. I appreciate the trust you put in me choosing me as your auto appraiser. thank you so much! - Ken

I was in an accident in Oregon last November where the other driver was at fault. They have Geico, but I opted to have USAA take care of things since I have been with them for 32 years. My mistake was thinking that USAA would have my back. They gave me a lowball estimate using pot lot vehicles, one with 240k miles (100k more than mine) and the other had several accidents listed. When I disputed this, they basically ignored me by using tactics of not returning calls or acknowledging the comps I had sent to counter their appraisal. I was adamant that I would not let USAA wear me down, and after 2 months of this bull - in my frustration I searched the internet for a solution and I found Ken. Ken certainly knows this side of the insurance "game" and I am appreciative of all the time he spent with me sharing his knowledge and experience battling for fair appraisals. Ken knows his stuff, and I was able to finally settle and got an additional $3000 for my car.
Response from the owner: I've hear this same story from so many of their policyholders, it's scary. Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I truly appreciate you and thank you for choosing me as your auto appraiser.

Ken got us a very fair and rapid increase in the payout from the insurance company. Highly recommended!
Response from the owner: Thank you Taal for choosing me as your auto appraiser for your total loss claim. Here's another example where the CCC ONE took $2,372 off on the value of your Toyota Sienna for condition against another Sienna that had over 20,000 more miles. What kind of math is that??? I see a lot of these from State Farm, unfortunately. It makes me wonder just how much are insurance companies saving when policyholders just accept their lowball offers. Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It is very much appreciated. - Ken

The insurance company made me out to be crazy or dishonest after i was very upset that they were offering me 3k on a total loss for a heavly modified wrx. Ken was extremely helpful, nice, and efficient. He did exactly what he said he would do in a very timely manner. Brought my 3700 offer all the way up to 9k. 118% increase. And continues to offered his help should I run into any other problems with the insurance company. I can't thank him enough. I highly recommend Ken and leverage Auto Appraisals.
Response from the owner: Trey, thank you for sharing your experience with both me and Leverage Auto Appraisals. Your review highlights the intricacies and challenges that can arise, especially when dealing with unique or heavily modified vehicles such as your WRX.It truly is remarkable that we managed to more than double the value of the Market Report originally provided by Progressive Insurance. Standard valuations can often fall short in recognizing the true worth of vehicles that have undergone significant modifications, and it's always my mission to ensure that such unique attributes are given their due consideration.I'm genuinely delighted to have been able to assist you in ensuring that you were treated fairly and received an accurate valuation for your cherished vehicle. An increase from $3,700 to $9,000 (a remarkable 118% increase) just makes me happy you reached out to me. Thank you for placing your trust in me and Leverage Auto Appraisals. Always remember, you shouldn't feel crazy, dishonest, or guilty for expecting a fair deal. Your passion for your car and your rightful claim is evident, and I’m pleased I could play a part in making that happen. In my opinion, it was sketchy and improper for the insurance company to attempt a renegotiation of the settlement after a signed agreement was in place. Such practices can further strain the trust between claimants and insurers. I am, however, elated that I was able to hold our ground and maintain the original, and rightful, settlement for your vehicle.Your trust in me and in Leverage Auto Appraisals has not been taken lightly. I want you to know that neither your passion for your car nor your rightful claim went unnoticed. I’m truly honored to have played a role in ensuring you received a fair and just valuation.Should you ever encounter any more hurdles with insurance matters in the future, do not hesitate to reach out. My dedication is to stand by our clients, ensuring they are supported and treated fairly every step of the way. Kind regards,Ken NixLeverage Auto Appraisals

I hired Ken to dispute my insurance company's evaluation of my total loss vehicle. I was surprised to see the low offer and disputed their valuation. Ken's years of auto industry experience were tremendous because he knew everything about my vehicle and modification. His efforts netted an additional $8k! My vehicle was a converted Honda Element E-Camper with an aftermarket permanent pop-top like a VW van.
Response from the owner: I want to personally thank you for taking the time to share your experience and leave us a review. It was a pleasure working with you to dispute your insurance company's evaluation of your total loss vehicle.I understand how surprised you were by the initial low offer, and I'm glad I could assist you in disputing their valuation. With my years of experience in the auto industry and extensive knowledge of vehicles and modifications, I was able to provide a thorough appraisal and negotiation strategy tailored to your unique situation.Your converted Honda Element E-Camper with the aftermarket pop-top, required a specialized understanding. By leveraging my expertise and advocating for the true value of your vehicle, we were able to secure an additional $8,000 for you. I'm thrilled that my efforts had such a significant impact on your financial recovery. At LEVERAGE, we take pride in our ability to navigate the appraisal process and fight for fair compensation for our clients. It's rewarding to know that my knowledge and dedication resulted in a positive outcome for you.I sincerely appreciate your trust in me as your auto appraiser, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to assist you. Mr. Kenny Nix I choose as my independant appraiser after reviewing his background and credentials in the field of appraising vehicles independantly. As I went through this process, I was not sure of all the twists and turns I would be faced with.I have been a law enforcement officer for over 27 years and this was my first experience in having a vehicle I owned that was totalled and challenged the insurance company as to the value of the vehicle. As time went on (3 months), Mr Nix kept me informed of the all information that was needed and how the process was moving forward.Mr. Nix eventually negotiated a deal that increased the offer from $35,000 to $52,000 which is nearly a 50% increase in value ($17,000 more)!Mr. Nix is a firm but fair negotiator that gets the job done! I would highly recommend him as your negotiator to extract the best deal for you possible!Thank you Kenny Nix,Michael Leary
Response from the owner: First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Leverage Auto Appraisals and with me, Ken Nix. I appreciate your kind words and recognition of the efforts I put into every appraisal and negotiation.I genuinely apologize for the length of time it took to finalize the claim on your behalf. A primary factor in the delay was the necessity to reestablish the exact date of loss and the condition of the vehicle at the time of the incident with the opposing appraiser and insurance company. It's crucial to understand that the initial valuation presented was not based on the correct details. Sorting out the facts and ensuring every piece of information was accurate with both the insurance company and their appraiser was paramount, but did unfortunately require additional time.At Leverage Auto Appraisals, I personally oversee every appraisal, negotiation, and audit of opposing appraisals. This hands-on approach is to guarantee that the quality and accuracy of our services meet the high standards I set for myself and for our company. Unlike larger firms, where appraisals and even negotiations may be performed by those less experienced or who might not carry the same dedication to truly proving a vehicle's worth, I ensure that each step in the process adheres to the highest standard. My commitment has always been to prove the value, not merely produce one.Again, I deeply appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the process. The aim was to ensure you received the value you deserved for your vehicle, and I'm grateful we could achieve a favorable outcome for you. Michael, your recommendation means the world to me, and it has been an honor to assist a dedicated law enforcement officer like yourself.Wishing you all the best and please feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance in the future.Warm regards,Kenny NixLeverage Auto Appraisals |Total Loss Appraiser

I was tired of arguing with my insurance company about the value of my vehicle that was totaled. I happened to find Ken with Leverage Auto and reached out not knowing if the company was legitimate. Long story short, I hired Ken as my independent appraiser and ended up getting 20% more than the highest offer from my insurance company. Should have simply talked to Ken first!
Response from the owner: Thank you for the nice words Tim. I just try to help people get what they should have been getting from the start. State Farm's valuation was definitely lower than it should have been. Thank you so much for your kind words and positive review, I really appreciate you and your business. If you haven't received your reimbursement from State Farm for your appraisal, please reach out and let me know.

Portland Total Loss Vehicle Appraisals

At Leverage Auto Appraisals in Portland, Oregon, we understand the frustration and confusion that can arise when your insurance company undervalues your vehicle after a total loss. Situated in the heart of a city renowned for its rich culture and landmarks like the historic Portland Art Museum, our team is dedicated to ensuring that locals receive fair treatment in their auto insurance claims.

Dealing with a total loss vehicle claim can be a trying experience, especially when the settlement offer from your insurance company doesn’t reflect the true car value or vehicle value. This situation is all too common in Portland, where residents frequently face challenges in getting fair compensation for their totaled car following a car accident or incidents involving Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Your Path to a Fair Offer:

  1. Challenging the Offer: If your insurance company’s valuation falls short, the appraisal clause in your policy is your tool for contesting their offer.
  2. Conducting Independent Appraisals: As part of this process, you have the right to obtain an independent appraisal at your expense, while your insurance company does the same.
  3. Resolving Discrepancies: In cases where these appraisals differ, an umpire is appointed to settle the value dispute, with the costs split between you and the insurer.
  4. Oregon Law Advantage: Under Oregon law, if the final appraised value is higher than your insurer’s last offer, they are obligated to reimburse you for the appraisal costs.

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, we specialize in navigating these complex scenarios. Our team, led by our experienced auto appraiser, Ken Nix, is committed to helping Portland residents stand up to insurance companies that undervalue their vehicles. We provide a comprehensive and free evaluation of your total loss claim, empowering you to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the dispute.

Our approach is personalized and focused. Unlike larger appraisal firms, each case at Leverage Auto Appraisals receives the detailed attention it deserves. We understand the unique aspects of Portland’s vehicle market, ensuring that your claim reflects the real market value, be it for everyday cars or more specialized vehicles seen in Copart or IAAI auctions.

For Portland residents facing total loss situations, remember that you have a right to fair treatment. Don’t settle for less than what your vehicle is worth. Contact Leverage Auto Appraisals for professional guidance and support in ensuring you receive a fair and just settlement. We stand with you, advocating for your rights, and ensuring that the value of your vehicle is recognized and compensated appropriately.
