In Salem, Oregon, facing a total loss vehicle scenario, whether it’s due to a car accident or a stolen vehicle, can be overwhelming. Leverage Auto Appraisals, known for its dedication to equitable and accurate car valuations, is your ally in these challenging times. Specializing in total loss appraisals, we are committed to ensuring that you receive the rightful retail value for your vehicle.

When an insurance company declares your vehicle a total loss in Salem, understanding the impact is vital. This typically means that repairing the vehicle might cost more than its present retail market value. At such times, the expertise of Leverage Auto Appraisals becomes indispensable. We are here to assist you in navigating these difficult times, ensuring your vehicle’s valuation is fair and in compliance with Oregon’s legal standards.

Set against the backdrop of Salem’s historical and cultural landmarks, like the Oregon State Capitol and the scenic Riverfront Park, our services resonate with the local community. We take pride in serving Salem’s residents with integrity and an in-depth understanding of the local automotive market.

Our services cater to those who believe their insurance company’s offer is unjustly low. We are independent of any insurance company affiliations, focusing solely on securing a fair settlement for you. According to Oregon law, you are entitled to a 100% reimbursement of the appraisal costs if the final appraised value is even slightly higher than the insurer’s last offer.

Ken Nix, our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser (Certification #V34-075), specializes in managing total loss car appraisals, auto total loss appraisal insurance claim disputes, and negotiations for various vehicle types, including those linked with Copart and IAAI. We have observed that valuations, especially for certain types of vehicles like Diesel Trucks with 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, are often much lower than their actual market value. This is where we step in, utilizing the appraisal clause in your policy to effectively dispute these low estimates.

If you are in Salem and find yourself dealing with a total loss insurance claim, don’t hesitate to contact Leverage Auto Appraisals. We offer a Free Total Loss Claim Review, dedicated to ensuring that your car value or vehicle value genuinely reflects its market worth. Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

I was rear-ended and my insurance offered me $19,489 for my 2021 Toyota Camry. Ken got me $22,005.50 which is an increase of $2,516.50! I would absolutely use Ken in the future and strongly recommend him.
Response from the owner:Troy, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and for trusting me with your total loss claim. I am glad we were able to increase State Farm's offer on your 2021 Toyota Camry from $19,489 to $22,005.50, putting an additional $2,516.50 in your pocket. I truly appreciate your recommendation. While this increase may not have been as dramatic as some of my other claims, every case is different, and my goal is always the same. I do everything I can to prove the true market value of a vehicle rather than simply accepting the first increase the insurance company offers. Every dollar matters when it comes time to replace your vehicle. I also hope your experience reminds other Oregon drivers that they do not have to accept the first total loss offer they receive. Many people are unaware that their policy contains an appraisal clause because it is often buried in the paperwork and rarely explained. Under Oregon law, if the appraisal increases the insurance company's final offer by even one cent, they must reimburse the reasonable cost of the appraisal. That knowledge alone has helped many people recover thousands of dollars they otherwise would have left behind. Thank you again for your trust and your recommendation. Hopefully you never need my services again, but if you do, I will always be happy to help. Kind regards, Ken

Ken was an exceptional person to hire. My insurance continued to offer what I knew was too low for my truck. Eventually they said they refused to offer more than $34k, and the only next option was to get an independent appraisal done. After a quick call to Ken, he got back to me shortly with an estimate on the ACV of the truck, and I decided to give him a shot. This was my first time working with an independent appraiser, and I would absolutely recommend Ken or his son to help anyone else out. I got an extra $5k payoff for my truck thanks to Ken. Thank you so much for what you do!

I would highly recommend Ken, he greatly exceeded my expectations. And made the process very smooth to deal with the insurance company. He is a rock star! My Porsche Taycan had an accident and got totalled. State Farm offered a payout amount and Ken was able to raise it by $7000. The appreciation would not have been possible without him. I would recommend him in a heartbeat!! He’s easy to work with, very communicative, professional and the best at his game!!
Photo from customer reviewPhoto from customer review
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the awesome review, I really appreciate it. And I have to say… that Taycan was absolutely gorgeous. I have a red Maserati GranTurismo Sport myself, so I have a soft spot for beautiful cars, especially when they stand out like yours did. Seriously, stunning vehicle. I am really glad I could help make the process smooth for you and get things moving in the right direction with State Farm. A $7000 increase on a total loss claim is exactly why it is so important to challenge those initial valuations. Vehicles like yours are often undervalued, and I am happy we were able to push back and get you closer to the true market value through the appraisal clause process here in Oregon. I truly appreciate your trust, your kind words, and the recommendation. I hope you end up in another red Taycan because that would be a perfect replacement. If you ever need anything in the future, I am always here to help. Kind regards, Ken

I can’t say enough good things about Leverage Auto and especially Ken. From start to finish, Ken was extremely communicative, professional, and genuinely friendly. He made the entire process much easier and less stressful than it would have been trying to deal with the insurance company on my own. Leverage Auto provided me everything needed to challenge the insurance company, and the results spoke for themselves. Their help ultimately resulted in a significantly higher payout than what the insurance company originally offered ($2k+). What stood out to me most was Ken himself. He was always responsive, easy to talk to, and genuinely seemed to care about helping me get treated fairly. You can tell he takes pride in what he does. We need more honest, hardworking people like Ken who are willing to fight for the little guy instead of just letting the big insurance companies have their way. I’m extremely grateful for the help and would absolutely recommend Leverage Auto to anyone dealing with an insurance company over the value of their vehicle. 5 stars all the way!
Response from the owner:Thank you so much, Troy. I really appreciate the kind words and especially your comments about communication and genuinely caring about the outcome. I do take a lot of pride in fighting for my clients, and I’m glad I was able to get you more than $2,000 above the insurance company’s offer. Your Volkswagen Golf TDI was an interesting one because the six speed manual transmission is actually more sought after, yet the CCC valuation relied on automatic transmission comparables. They also applied the same $1,469 condition deduction against your vehicle, even though yours was exceptional and in better condition than most of the comparable vehicles I found. Unfortunately, finding good comparables for these TDIs can be difficult because there simply are not many of them available. Sometimes I know a vehicle is worth more, but I still have to prove it with credible market evidence. Thank you again for trusting me to handle your total loss appraisal dispute and for the five stars, Troy. I’m glad I could make the process a little less stressful and help get the settlement closer to what your Golf TDI was actually worth. Kind regards, Ken

James McNames
Great experience. They were able to negotiate a value that was approximately 50% higher than what the insurance company initially offered. Would use them again, and I strongly recommend them.
Response from the owner:James, thank you so much for the great review and recommendation. I really appreciate you trusting me with your total loss claim. I am glad we were able to increase your settlement by approximately 50 percent over the original offer from your insurance company. Claims like yours are a good reminder that the first offer is not always the final offer. My job is to research the market, build a credible appraisal, and then stand behind that value during negotiations. It is always rewarding when that work results in a settlement that is much closer to what the vehicle is actually worth. Thank you again for your recommendation. It was a pleasure working with you, and I hope you never need my services again. But if you ever do, or if you know someone dealing with a total loss, I will be happy to help. Kind regards, Ken

I recently worked with Ken Mix after my 2017 Nissan Leaf was totaled in an accident that was 100% the other driver's fault. State Farm's initial settlement offer was far too low, and I was struggling to get a fair value for my vehicle. I actually used an AI tool to help me research my options, and it flagged Ken as one of the top independent appraisers in the region, noting his consistent victories in disputing lowball claims against State Farm. Ken came highly recommended, and he absolutely delivered. The story of how we started working together is pretty funny. At first, Ken honestly didn't think he could take my case. Because of the highly volatile nature of the market for older EVs—specifically the Nissan Leaf—he wasn't sure he could find the data to beat State Farm's quote. Instead of just taking my money, he generously gave me a brilliant counter-strategy: he told me to report our initial consultation directly to State Farm to show them I was speaking with an independent appraiser, predicting that just knowing I had an expert in my corner might scare them into raising the Actual Cash Value (ACV) by $1,000 on the spot. But it gets better. About a day later, Ken emailed me urgently. He had kept digging into the data on his own time, completed some deeper research, and realized he could absolutely get me a deal. He was so confident after reviewing the numbers that he told me that if I paid his fee, he could almost guarantee an appraisal that would cover the cost, making it entirely worthwhile and risk-free for me. He took the case, conducted a meticulous appraisal, and completely shattered State Farm's lowball offer—ultimately securing an additional $1,702 on top of their first valuation. His report paid for itself multiple times over, just like he said it would. Beyond being an absolute master of his craft, Ken is a fascinating person to talk to. He has an incredible background, a unique education, and a wealth of diverse life experiences that make him an absolute pleasure to work with. He genuinely cares about getting justice for his clients. If you are dealing with a total loss or a difficult insurance claim in the Seattle/Tacoma area, do yourself a favor and call Ken Mix. He is the absolute best in the business. Thank you, Ken!
Response from the owner:John, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an incredible review. I truly appreciate your trust, and I am glad we were ultimately able to increase the value of your 2017 Nissan Leaf by an additional **$1,702**. I have to admit, this claim almost never happened. When we first spoke, I honestly did not think I could build a strong enough appraisal to justify asking you to hire me. The market for older Nissan Leafs can be extremely volatile, and I never want someone to spend money on an appraisal unless I genuinely believe I can help. After our conversation, though, I just could not let it go. I kept researching on my own time and eventually found stronger comparable vehicles much closer to your area. Those local comparables completely changed my opinion of the claim, so I reached back out because I believed we finally had enough evidence to move forward. I am really glad I did. I originally thought we might be able to improve the settlement by around a thousand dollars, so I was happy we were able to exceed that and secure an additional $1,702 instead. The only part that still frustrates me is that, unlike Oregon, Washington does not require insurance companies to reimburse consumers for the reasonable cost of an appraisal when it results in a higher settlement. I have always believed that if the insurance company is proven wrong, the consumer should not have to bear the cost of proving it. In most cases I've been able to provide a strong enough argument, that insurance companies have reimbursed the appraisal fee in Washington, and I can't believe State Farm fought us on the reimbursement. Unfortunately, sometimes this happens on Washington State claims. Thank you again for your thoughtful review and recommendation. It was a pleasure working with you, and I truly enjoyed our conversations along the way. I wish you nothing but the best, and if you ever need anything in the future, you know how to reach me. Kind regards, Ken

I had a very positive experience with Leverage Auto Appraisals. Ken helped me dispute a total loss claim on my vehicle and I ended up getting a higher payout from my insurance company. The process was smooth, professional, and stress-free from start to finish. He was very responsive, explained everything clearly, and truly went above and beyond to make sure I was treated fairly. I would absolutely recommend Leverage Auto Appraisals to anyone dealing with a total loss or insurance dispute!
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the kind words, I truly appreciate you taking the time to write this. It was awesome working with you, and I am really glad I could help make the process feel smooth and a little less stressful. That is always my goal, to take something that is usually frustrating and confusing and make it as straightforward as possible while making sure you are treated fairly. These total loss situations can be overwhelming, especially when the insurance company is not coming in where they should, so I am glad we were able to get you a better outcome. Thank you again for your trust and your recommendation. It really means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need help in the future. Kind regards, Ken

I meant to do this a couple months ago, but if you ever are looking to invoke the appraisal clause with your insurance definitely get ahold of Ken!! He got me close to $4K more than what insurance was wanting me to accept. I will say be patient (I was not good at this), communication can be sparse, but he is very busy and has reasons. Thank you Ken!!
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for taking the time to come back and write this review, I really appreciate it. It was truly awesome working with you, even if the patience part was a little tough at times. Totally understandable, these total loss situations can be stressful and nobody likes waiting when they are dealing with an insurance claim. I am really glad we were able to help you through the appraisal clause process and secure nearly $4,000 more than the original offer. That is exactly why having an independent auto appraiser in Oregon can make such a big difference when dealing with a total loss valuation dispute. Insurance companies do not always reflect the true market value, and I am happy we were able to challenge that and get you a better outcome. Thank you again for your trust, your patience, and your kind words. It really means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

Ken is the best! He completely helped me through the whole process and I’m so glad I trusted him with the total loss of my vehicle. My insurance company completely lowballed me and he got me thousands more that I was missing out on. Thank you Ken 🙏
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the awesome review, Michael! It truly means a lot to me that you trusted me to help you through the total loss process on your 2019 BMW M5 Competition. I know how frustrating it is when an insurance company comes back with a lowball offer, especially on a high value performance vehicle where every detail matters. This was one of the tougher appraisal clause negotiations I've had in a while, but I'm glad we stayed the course and were able to increase GEICO's valuation from $53,468 to $59,000, putting an additional $5,532 in your pocket. Helping Oregon drivers through total loss insurance disputes and fighting for a fair market value is exactly why I do this. I truly appreciate your trust, your patience, and your kind words. Hopefully you never need an independent auto appraiser again, but if you do, you know where to find me. Kind regards, Ken

I highly recommend Ken from Leverage Auto Appraisals Total Loss Appraiser LLC. If you’re dealing with insurance pressure to close a claim quickly, trust Ken and his process—even when it feels uncomfortable. I’m so glad I listened to him. Ken fought hard for my dispute and made sure I received what I truly deserved for my Chevy truck. He is extremely knowledgeable about the insurance and appraisal industry and took the time to explain things clearly. I’m not great at reading fine print, and without his guidance, I could have easily ended up paying much more out of pocket. Beyond the appraisal itself, Ken generously shared valuable insights about how he conducts business and the importance of family and integrity. Those conversations had nothing to do with appraisals, but I truly appreciated them—they meant a lot. Thank you, Ken, for fighting for us and for going above and beyond. Your dedication and honesty make a real difference.

Response from the owner:Vitri, thank you so much for the thoughtful review and for trusting me with your Insurance total loss claim on your 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss. I also want to thank you for uploading photos of your truck. Beautiful Silverado and honestly a shame that it was totaled. Photos like yours really help people see these are real clients, real vehicles, and real appraisal clause disputes here in Oregon. Sadly, there are companies out there purchasing reviews or creating misleading impressions online, so I truly appreciate clients like you who take the time to share genuine experiences. I’m really glad you trusted the process even when the insurance company pressure started building to settle quickly. That pressure is exactly where many consumers end up accepting less than they deserve. In your case, we were able to secure a $5,132 increase over the original CCC valuation, which made a significant difference on your Silverado claim. Helping Oregon drivers challenge low insurance offers and navigate the appraisal clause process is exactly why I do this work. I also sincerely appreciate your comments about our conversations outside of the appraisal itself. Family, integrity, and trying to do right by people have always mattered more to me than simply processing claims. I have never worked for insurance companies and have never accepted revenue from insurance companies in any capacity because I believe remaining fully independent is critical to being truly unbiased for consumers. Lately, it has come to my attention that several appraisers operating in Oregon are also performing work for insurance companies while simultaneously marketing themselves to consumers without fully disclosing those relationships. Personally, I believe that creates a serious conflict of interest when someone is representing a consumer against the same insurance companies they are also receiving business from. That is one of the main reasons I have always chosen to work exclusively for vehicle owners and policyholders rather than insurers. Thank you again for the trust, the great conversation, and the opportunity to help. Wishing you and your family nothing but the best moving forward. Kind regards, Ken

Ken Nix was an absolute joy to work with and he did exactly what he said he would. He was able to get my payout increased enough to pay off my loan, buy back my car, and have some left over to repair it too! He even reassured me when insurance's third party appraiser tried to scare me into thinking I had made a big mistake. Hiring Ken was the best decision I could have made and I am 100% satisfied with the outcome. I could not recommend him more. Thank you so much Ken!
Response from the owner:Ashley, thank you so much for the wonderful review. It was truly a pleasure working with you, and I am so glad we were able to increase the value of your **2015 Honda CR-V** by more than **$2,700**, a **43.8 percent increase** over the original offer. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for insurance company representatives or the appraisers they hire to say things that make policyholders question whether they are making the right decision. I am glad I was able to answer your questions and give you the confidence to stay the course. In the end, being able to pay off your loan, buy your CR-V back, and still have money left over to repair it worked out. That is exactly why I enjoy doing this work. Thank you again for your trust and your kind words. You were an absolute pleasure to work with, and I truly appreciate your recommendation. I wish you many more miles with your CR-V, and if you ever need anything in the future, do not hesitate to reach out. Kind regards, Ken

I can’t recommend Leverage Auto Appraisers enough. My son had what can only be described as a “unicorn” car — a pristine 2011 Subaru Forester with just 60k miles and a flawless service record. We searched long and hard to find it, and it was absolutely perfect for him. Less than two months later, while it was parked, a huge tree branch fell on it, breaking the windshield, side-view mirror and damaging the door. GEICO immediately totaled it and then tried to lowball us based purely on the age of the car. Anyone who’s tried to buy a Subaru in Oregon knows the market is completely different — you simply cannot find low-mileage, well-maintained Subarus at the prices GEICO wanted to use. That’s when we hired Ken at Leverage Auto Appraisers. Not only is he genuinely a nice, easy-to-work-with guy, but he handled everything professionally and knew exactly how to deal with the insurance process. He ended up increasing the payout by around 30%, which was enough for us to buy a comparable replacement vehicle without going too deep out-of-pocket. Even better, because of Oregon law, his fee was reimbursed — so if you hire him, make sure you request that reimbursement from your insurer. Ken truly saved us in a stressful situation. Worth every penny, and then some.
Photo from customer reviewPhoto from customer review
Response from the owner:Bret, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review, I truly appreciate it. And thank you for providing so many photos, that really helps more than most people realize. It helps others understand that comprehensive losses like tree damage, falling limbs, or even mudslides can absolutely be disputed when the valuation comes in low. And I have to say again, that Forester was a unicorn. Finding a 2011 with only 60k miles and that kind of history here in Oregon is no easy task. The market for Subarus out here is completely different, and those insurance valuations rarely reflect what these vehicles are actually worth. That situation with the tree branch was just brutal, especially after all the effort you put into finding the perfect vehicle for your son. I am really glad we were able to step in and secure over a $3,000 increase, roughly 30 percent more than the original offer, so you could get into a comparable replacement without taking a big financial hit. Thank you again for your trust, your kind words, and the recommendation. It was truly awesome working with you, and I am always here if you ever need anything in the future. Kind regards, Ken

Portland Total Loss Vehicle Appraisals

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, we specialize in providing services in Salem, Oregon, and are attuned to the challenges vehicle owners face when insurance companies undervalue their vehicles following a total loss. We cater exclusively to vehicle owners and insured policyholders, not insurance companies, ensuring our commitment lies solely with you. Our work in Salem, a city rich in historical and cultural heritage, marked by landmarks such as the Oregon State Capitol and the serene Bush’s Pasture Park, is focused on defending the interests of Salem’s residents in their auto insurance claims.

Navigating a total loss vehicle claim in Salem can be daunting, especially when the offer from your insurance company fails to reflect the true car value or vehicle value. This is a frequent challenge in Salem, where individuals often struggle to obtain just compensation for their totaled vehicles, whether due to a car accident or incidents with entities like Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Empowering Policyholders:

  1. Challenging Low Offers: If the valuation from your insurance company is inadequate, the appraisal clause in your policy is a powerful tool to dispute their offer.
  2. Independent Appraisal Right: As a vehicle owner, you have the right to seek an independent appraisal at your expense, while the insurance company does its evaluation.
  3. Umpire for Dispute Resolution: If there is a disagreement in appraisals, an impartial umpire is chosen jointly to establish the final value, with costs equally divided.
  4. Leveraging Oregon Law: Oregon law ensures that if the final appraised value is higher than the insurer’s last offer, they must cover your appraisal costs.

Leverage Auto Appraisals, led by our skilled auto appraiser, Ken Nix, is dedicated to assisting Salem’s vehicle owners. Our Free Total Loss Claim Review helps you make informed decisions about disputing your claim.

Our approach is tailored and comprehensive. Each case is treated with the meticulous attention it deserves, ensuring that your claim reflects the true market value of your vehicle, whether it’s a daily driver or a more unique vehicle often seen in Copart or IAAI auctions.

For Salem residents coping with total loss situations, remember you have an ally in Leverage Auto Appraisals. We are committed to vehicle owners and policyholders, not insurance companies, ensuring your vehicle’s worth is fairly recognized. Reach out to us for expert guidance in achieving a just settlement, as we advocate for your rights and work towards an appropriate compensation for your vehicle.
