When an insurance company declares your vehicle a total loss in Salem, understanding the impact is vital. Set against the backdrop of Salem’s historical and cultural landmarks, like the Oregon State Capitol and the scenic Riverfront Park, our services resonate with the local community. Our services cater to those who believe their insurance company’s offer is unjustly low. We are independent of any insurance company affiliations, focusing solely on securing a fair settlement for you. According to Oregon law, you are entitled to a 100% reimbursement of the appraisal costs if the final appraised value is even slightly higher than the insurer’s last offer.

Ken Nix, our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser (Certification #V34-075), specializes in managing total loss car appraisals, auto total loss appraisal insurance claim disputes, and negotiations for various vehicle types, including those linked with Copart and IAAI. We have observed that valuations, especially for certain types of vehicles like Diesel Trucks with 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, are often much lower than their actual market value. This is where we step in, utilizing the appraisal clause in your policy to effectively dispute these low estimates.

If you are in Salem and find yourself dealing with a total loss insurance claim, don’t hesitate to contact Leverage Auto Appraisals. We offer a Free Total Loss Claim Review, dedicated to ensuring that your car value or vehicle value genuinely reflects its market worth. Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

I highly recommend Ken with Leverage Auto Appraisals. They were instrumental in my total loss claim process. The insurance company initially offered me $16,500 for my vehicle, but thanks to Leverage’s professional appraisal, I was able to secure a settlement of $19,950. Their service was professional, effective, and well worth it."
Response from the owner:Shawn, thank you so much for the great review and for trusting me with your total loss claim. I am glad we were able to increase your settlement to $19,950. Claims like yours are a good reminder that the first offer from an insurance company is not always the fair market value of a vehicle. My goal is never to create the highest appraisal possible. It is to produce the most accurate appraisal possible and then defend that value during negotiations. That approach helped us reach a settlement that was much closer to what your vehicle was actually worth. I truly appreciate your recommendation and the opportunity to help. Hopefully you never need an independent appraiser again, but if you do, I will be here. I wish you all the best, and thank you again for choosing Leverage Auto Appraisals. Kind regards, Ken

Sooooo glad we discovered that we could hire our own appraiser! My son hit a deer and his SUV was soon determined a total loss. Our insurance rep lowballed us with their initial $$ offer which I tried to negotiate in vain getting nowhere for literally 4 weeks. They kept unfairly comping our 1 owner, private use vehicle against former rental cars and then discounted ours additionally by $1400 for not being in showroom condition "like their rental comps"! The more I researched their comps, the more frustrated I became... They even comped vehicles with previous accidents that sold earlier where I could not look up the Carfax history... Shame on them! Even with Carfax, I found most “1 owner vehicles” deceptive with the 1 owner being a major rental company… My rep(s) eventually referred me to their total loss adjuster and all they said repeatedly was a whole lot of NO. It was insanity, 4 weeks passed & I was left fuming getting nowhere fast on my own. I researched next options then found Leverage Auto Appraisals and Ken Nix. I was a little reluctant but made the investment to bring him on to help. He quickly jumped in our claim and took over the negotiations. Within a couple weeks he succeeded in getting us THOUSANDS $$ more than I was even expecting. The kicker was - in the end, our insurance company even had to pay Ken’s fees on top of everything! Valuable life lesson learned… If you get in a total loss situation, don’t waste your valuable time trying to negotiate with your insurance rep on your own. Hire a pro… I only wish I had discovered Ken sooner as I would not have wasted weeks on end researching fair comparable vehicles & building spreadsheets to try and sway our claim with zero luck. Ken’s a pro at this. Hire him, be patient and let him fight on equal footing with your insurance rep.

Response from the owner:Scott, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review and for sharing the photos of your son's SUV. It was a beautiful vehicle, and I completely understand why you were so frustrated after spending weeks trying to negotiate on your own. One thing your experience highlights is that negotiating a total loss claim is very different from simply finding a few comparable vehicles online. The valuation company controls the valuation process, and that can make it extremely difficult for consumers to negotiate against, when they can just change the rules since they are in charge of that valuation. Even when you find better vehicles that are closer in mileage, condition, or location, they are not always willing to use them. That is one of the reasons I have dedicated nearly my entire practice to total loss appraisal disputes. After more than 16 years specializing in these claims, I know what evidence is most likely to hold up during the appraisal clause process and where to focus my efforts. Unfortunately, it's not always as simple as producing an appraisal, I also have to discredit their comps, and build value in your vehicle. Luckily, I have over 30 years experience doing that. Thank you again for trusting me with your claim. I also appreciate you mentioning that the insurance company reimbursed the full cost of the appraisal. Most importantly, I am glad we were able to secure $3,500 more than they offered. I hope you and your son never have to go through another total loss, but if you ever have questions in the future, I am always happy to help. Kind regards, Ken

I had just bought a beautiful 2015 BMW X5 35d a month prior to hitting a deer and having Progressive call it a total loss. I knew the offer from Progressive was not going to allow me to replace the l X5 that I was just getting to know when, after some searching online, found Ken. I filled out the form on his website and heard back from him the next day saying he'd take my case on and that he could help. The entire process took about a month total, from hiring Ken to finally getting my payout. At times, it took a few days for Ken to get back to me and time for insurance to respond. It was stressful, but made much easier by Ken's re-assuring and calm easy going demeanor. As soon as Progressive, got Ken's letter of arbitration, they offered me over $4000 more, the next morning! Partly this was because Progressive was trying to get out of arbitration and didn't want to reimburse Ken's fee to me, but they eventually did. While it didn't happen overnight, it was the holidays, Ken made the whole process much easier and I would hire him again if I ever needed to and have recommended him already. I think it was about $4300 total more that Ken helped negotiate! Thank you Ken
Response from the owner:I really appreciate you sharing this, thank you. And yes, that was a sharp BMW, definitely a tough one to see go so soon after you picked it up. Unfortunately, that is when a lot of people first realize how far off insurance valuations can be. You did exactly the right thing by questioning the offer and reaching out. As a licensed auto appraiser here in Oregon, I see it all the time where vehicles like yours are undervalued through automated reports. I am glad we were able to step in, invoke the appraisal clause, and ultimately help you secure about $4300 more on your total loss settlement. That is money that makes a real difference when trying to replace a vehicle like that. I know the process can feel stressful at times, especially with a little waiting involved, but I am glad I was able to help make it more manageable along the way. Thank you again for your trust, your patience, and for recommending me to others. That means everything. Kind regards, Ken

I rolled my truck in Canada while guiding and my insurance offered me 3500 less than my pay off quote and Ken was able to get them to come up 8000 dollars. I will never use anyone else of if I had to do this process again. Highly highly recommend
Photo from customer review
Response from the owner:Montana, thank you so much for the awesome review, I truly appreciate it. And more than anything, thank you for putting your trust in me. I know this one was not the easiest process and it took a little time, but getting that full $8,000 increase is exactly why we stayed the course. We probably could have wrapped things up quicker if we had only pushed for a few hundred dollars more, but that is not how I operate. If I believe there is more value there, I am going to fight for it. I am really glad we did, because that is a huge difference when it comes to getting you back to where you should be. Also, thank you for posting the photos. I mean… wow. Seeing that again, it just hits you. That was a serious accident, and the fact that you walked away from that is nothing short of amazing. The good lord was definitely looking out for you that day. I really appreciate your confidence in me and your recommendation. Hopefully you never have to go through this again, but if you do, I have got your back. Kind regards, Ken

Ken at Leverage Auto Appraisers is truly amazing. I was ready to give up in despair dealing with my claims specialist at State Farm, who was undervaluing our 2010 Toyota Highlander (which State Farm totaled after we hit a deer). Ken was a straight shooter, is extremely knowledgeable about the entire convoluted process, and helped every step of the way. Getting the appraisal from Ken was unexpectedly easy and fast (once State Farm assigned their appraiser, which took several weeks). Ken is a a pro and has real integrity! And he saved us over $2000!!!
Response from the owner:Sandy, thank you so much for the incredible review, I truly appreciate you taking the time to share this. It was absolutely awesome working with you, and I am really glad I could help turn things around when it felt like you were hitting a wall. Dealing with a total loss after hitting a deer is stressful enough, and when the valuation comes in low, it just adds to that frustration. I hear that a lot, people feeling like they are running out of options. I am glad we were able to step in, work through the appraisal clause process, and get your Highlander where it should have been. That $2,000 plus increase makes a real difference. I also appreciate your patience with the timeline, especially waiting on State Farm to assign their appraiser. That part is unfortunately out of our control, but once things get moving, I do everything I can to keep it efficient and straightforward. Thank you again for your trust, your kind words, and your recommendation. It really means a lot to me, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

Ken was great! Helped us get more value for our car & was wonderful to work with. We highly recommend him!
Response from the owner:Tim, thank you so much for the great review, I truly appreciate it. It was awesome working with you, and I am really glad I could help you get more value for your vehicle through the total loss appraisal process. That is always the goal, making sure you are not stuck accepting a low insurance valuation and helping you get the true market value for your car. These total loss claims can be frustrating, especially when the initial offer comes in low, so I always try to make the appraisal clause process as smooth and straightforward as possible. Thank you again for your trust and your recommendation. I am always here if you ever need help with a total loss or insurance claim in the future. Kind regards, Ken

Ken did very good job negotiating a settlement. It was a great experience and I got what I thought I deserved. Thanks again Ken!

Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the great review, I truly appreciate it. I am really glad we were able to get you to a settlement that felt right, that is always the goal. And I especially want to thank you for providing the photos of that red Ram truck. That means more than most people realize. Those diesel trucks in particular are getting lowballed so badly right now, it is honestly insane. Seeing the actual vehicle helps tell the real story and shows just how far off some of these insurance valuations can be. It also really helps other people see that these are real claims with real results, not something made up or bought somewhere online. I truly appreciate you taking the extra time to do that. You have no idea how much that helps. Thank you again for your trust, I really appreciate you. Kind regards, Ken

My car was hit while parked on the street outside my house and it became a total loss! Ken help me out and appraised my highlander higher than what my insurance appraised it at. My settlement was 2,340.66 more than what my insurance originally offered me. Im so thankful that i found Ken and did not go with the low offer that my insurance appraised my car at. I would totally recommend Ken to anyone! He’s definitely a pro at what he does and i will definitely use him again if ever needed! Thanks Ken! Insurance Offer: $11,659.34 Settlement: $14,000.00 Increase: $2,340.66
Photo from customer reviewPhoto from customer review
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the awesome review, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Getting hit while parked is frustrating enough, and after seeing the photos you provided, that was some serious rear damage. Definitely not something anyone expects when their car is just sitting outside their home. I am really glad we were able to step in and help turn things around for you. That increase from $11,659.34 to $14,000 is exactly why it is so important to question those initial insurance valuations. Too often they come in low, and without pushing back, people end up leaving money on the table. We were able to use the appraisal clause process here in Oregon to get you closer to the true market value of your Highlander. Thank you again for your trust and the recommendation. It means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

After my daughter was in an accident in our Mini Countryman, the insurance company low-balled the total-loss payout for our fully insured vehicle. Unfortunately, this seems to be standard practice. We were forced to hire an appraiser to exercise the legally mandated appraisal clause in our policy to recover the disputed value amount. I was fortunate enough to connect with Ken at Leverage Auto Appraisals. Ken has been doing this a long time--he knows where all the bones are buried (as they say), his process is refined, he's personable, friendly and he devotes a lot of attention to his cases. Ken increased the payout I received from the insurance substantially, as expected. It would seem that Ken's purpose in this life is to hold these crooked insurance companies accountable. Kudos Ken. Thank you!!!
Photo from customer review
Response from the owner:Walt, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an incredible review, I truly appreciate it. And thank you for including the photos, that was a really severe front end collision. Seeing that kind of damage really puts things into perspective, and I am just glad your daughter is okay. Vehicles can be replaced, people cannot. I am really glad we were able to step in and help you through that situation. Unfortunately, what you experienced with the insurance company is all too common. These total loss valuations are often low right out of the gate, and most people do not realize they have the right to challenge them through the appraisal clause. That is where I come in, making sure people are not stuck accepting less than what their vehicle is truly worth. And yeah… I guess you could say I do know where a few of the bones are buried. Ha ha. I have been doing this a long time, and over the years I have built a strong network of dealers and industry contacts. A lot of those relationships go back to when I worked with Reynolds and Reynolds and during my time helping run a large automotive forum network for about 10 years. Even now, I will call a dealer about a comparable and hear someone in the background say, “Is that Ken Nix?” after not talking for 10 or 15 years. It is pretty cool, and those relationships really help when it comes to getting accurate real world market data and holding these valuations accountable. I am grateful you trusted me with your claim, and I am really glad we were able to get you a substantially better outcome. Thank you again for the kind words, they truly mean a lot. Kind regards, Ken

Leverage Auto appraisals owner Ken handled my disputed claim with Progressive Insurance. He got me $5,000 additional dollars for my totaled dodge ram 2018 truck. I would use this company any time to fight for me. He is an expert in the industry
Photo from customer review
Response from the owner:Bob, thank you so much for the great review, I truly appreciate it. And I have to say, I had a lot of fun working with you as well. It always makes the process that much better when I get to work with good people. That $5,000 increase on your Ram was as strong as bear's breath, and exactly why it is so important to push back when the insurance company comes in low. I am really glad we were able to get you where you needed to be. Also, thank you for taking the time to include a photo. That really means a lot. It helps other people see that these are real situations with real results, not just a bunch of fake bullcrap like I see on some of these review sites. I genuinely appreciate you going the extra mile to do that. Thanks again for your trust and your kind words. I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

Very happy to join Ken’s list of success stories and satisfied customers here 😁. When our family’s 2019 Mazda CX-9 was hit and totaled, USAA’s appraisal came in well below the cost to replace it. I tried to prove our case to the insurance company, but they put up more obstacles and excuses, claiming our comps were too old, then they were too new, then they were not the exact same trim, etc. Having been a member in good standing for over 30 years, this was both disappointing and costly process for our family. Ken got to work immediately and provided very clear insight on the process and his experience. Within one month, USAA sent us a check for an additional $5,500 to make up the difference for the revised and substantiated appraisal. Thank you Ken!
Response from the owner:Matthew, thank you so much for the awesome review, I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It was great working with you, and I am really glad we were able to turn that situation around for your family. What you described is something I see all the time. The back and forth on comps being too old, too new, or not quite right is one of the most common tactics used, and it can be incredibly frustrating for people trying to handle it on their own. That is exactly where I step in, to cut through all of that and focus on what actually reflects the true market value. Getting that additional $5,500 for your CX-9 is stronger than a skunk in a phone booth, and I am glad we were able to get you closer to what it would actually cost to replace your vehicle. That is the number that really matters. Thank you again for your trust, your patience, and for being great to work with. I truly appreciate it, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

James McNames
Great experience. They were able to negotiate a value that was approximately 50% higher than what the insurance company initially offered. Would use them again, and I strongly recommend them.
Response from the owner:James, thank you so much for the great review and recommendation. I really appreciate you trusting me with your total loss claim. I am glad we were able to increase your settlement by approximately 50 percent over the original offer from your insurance company. Claims like yours are a good reminder that the first offer is not always the final offer. My job is to research the market, build a credible appraisal, and then stand behind that value during negotiations. It is always rewarding when that work results in a settlement that is much closer to what the vehicle is actually worth. Thank you again for your recommendation. It was a pleasure working with you, and I hope you never need my services again. But if you ever do, or if you know someone dealing with a total loss, I will be happy to help. Kind regards, Ken

Portland Total Loss Vehicle Appraisals

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, we specialize in providing services in Salem, Oregon, and are attuned to the challenges vehicle owners face when insurance companies undervalue their vehicles following a total loss. We cater exclusively to vehicle owners and insured policyholders, not insurance companies, ensuring our commitment lies solely with you. Our work in Salem, a city rich in historical and cultural heritage, marked by landmarks such as the Oregon State Capitol and the serene Bush’s Pasture Park, is focused on defending the interests of Salem’s residents in their auto insurance claims.

Navigating a total loss vehicle claim in Salem can be daunting, especially when the offer from your insurance company fails to reflect the true car value or vehicle value. This is a frequent challenge in Salem, where individuals often struggle to obtain just compensation for their totaled vehicles, whether due to a car accident or incidents with entities like Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Empowering Policyholders:

  1. Challenging Low Offers: If the valuation from your insurance company is inadequate, the appraisal clause in your policy is a powerful tool to dispute their offer.
  2. Independent Appraisal Right: As a vehicle owner, you have the right to seek an independent appraisal at your expense, while the insurance company does its evaluation.
  3. Umpire for Dispute Resolution: If there is a disagreement in appraisals, an impartial umpire is chosen jointly to establish the final value, with costs equally divided.
  4. Leveraging Oregon Law: Oregon law ensures that if the final appraised value is higher than the insurer’s last offer, they must cover your appraisal costs.

Leverage Auto Appraisals, led by our skilled auto appraiser, Ken Nix, is dedicated to assisting Salem’s vehicle owners. Our Free Total Loss Claim Review helps you make informed decisions about disputing your claim.

Our approach is tailored and comprehensive. Each case is treated with the meticulous attention it deserves, ensuring that your claim reflects the true market value of your vehicle, whether it’s a daily driver or a more unique vehicle often seen in Copart or IAAI auctions.

For Salem residents coping with total loss situations, remember you have an ally in Leverage Auto Appraisals. We are committed to vehicle owners and policyholders, not insurance companies, ensuring your vehicle’s worth is fairly recognized. Reach out to us for expert guidance in achieving a just settlement, as we advocate for your rights and work towards an appropriate compensation for your vehicle.
