We’re Local in Oregon

When your vehicle is declared a total loss by your insurance company, particularly in the wake of a car accident or a stolen vehicle incident, it can be a stressful and confusing time. This declaration typically means that the cost of repairs could equal or even exceed your vehicle’s retail market value. In such scenarios, Leverage Auto Appraisals steps in as your ally, ensuring that you receive the full retail value of your car, encompassing all applicable Tax, Title, and Licensing Fees, a right strongly upheld in Oregon.

If you find yourself with an offer from your insurance company that seems unfairly low, remember that you are not without recourse. Our professional services in Portland, set against the backdrop of iconic local landmarks like the Portland Japanese Garden and the bustling Pearl District, provide a sense of familiarity and trust for our clients.

Leverage Auto Appraisals is here to assist. We’re not affiliated with any insurance companies, meaning our sole focus is on securing a fair settlement for you. Our expertise is particularly crucial in Oregon, where law mandates 100% reimbursement for appraisal costs if we manage to increase the value over the insurance company’s last offer by even a single cent.

Our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser, Ken Nix (Certification #V34-075), specializes in providing car appraisals for a range of situations including Totaled vehicle Insurance claims, Total Loss Appraisal Clause Disputes, and negotiation for stolen or totaled Trucks and Cars. We have noticed a trend with CCC ONE, Mitchell, and JD Powers valuations, particularly for Diesel Trucks with the 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, coming in at values as low as 30 percent of their true market value. This is where the appraisal clause in your policy becomes crucial, allowing you to challenge these lowball valuations effectively.

Don’t let an unfair offer set you back. If you’re in Portland, Oregon, and need assistance with a total loss claim, Leverage Auto Appraisals is your first step towards a fair settlement. Contact us now for a free Claim Review at (503) 567-8900. We are here to ensure that your car value or vehicle value reflects its true worth in the market, irrespective of the situation – be it a car accident, Copart, IAAI involvements, or other circumstances leading to your vehicle being totaled.

Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

Ken is truly a man on Integrity. He gave me the best advice that actually helped me use as leverage to save my Car from being Totaled. I highly recommend them. Thank you Ken!
Response from the owner:Mehdi, thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate you taking the time to write this. It was great working with you, and I am really glad I was able to help you navigate that situation and ultimately keep your vehicle from being totaled. Not every case needs to go all the way through the appraisal clause process. Sometimes just knowing how these insurance companies operate and using the right information at the right time can make all the difference. I am glad you were able to use that leverage and get a better outcome. Thank you again for your trust and your recommendation. It truly means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need anything in the future. Kind regards, Ken

I can't recommend Ken at Leverage Auto Appraisals highly enough. When my insurance company declared my vehicle a total loss, their initial valuation was not near to the value of my vehicle. I knew something wasn't right and reached out to Ken. From our first conversation, it was clear that he genuinely cared about helping me receive a fair settlement. He took the time to explain the appraisal process, answered all of my questions, and handled the negotiations with professionalism and confidence. His knowledge of vehicle values and the insurance claims process was impressive, and his persistence and knowledge made all the difference. Thanks to Ken's hard work and dedication, he was able to negotiate a settlement that was much closer to the true market value of my vehicle. Without his expertise, things would have resolved differently. If you're dealing with a total loss claim or feel your insurance company has undervalued your vehicle, don't hesitate to call Ken. He is honest, knowledgeable, responsive, and truly fights for his clients. I'm incredibly grateful for everything he did and would recommend Leverage Auto Appraisals to anyone looking for someone who will advocate for them every step of the way.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much, Chris. I really appreciate the thoughtful review and your trust in me. Your 2000 Honda S2000 was an exceptional car with only about 52,000 miles, and I’m glad I was able to get you over $5,000 more on your total loss settlement. There were some things in the CCC ONE valuation that simply did not make sense to me. One of their comparable vehicles had around 110,000 miles, more than double the mileage of your S2000. Then they deducted over $1,500 for condition from your vehicle, even though your S2000 was in exceptional condition. Comparing a 52,000 mile showroom quality car against vehicles with substantially higher mileage and then making that kind of condition deduction is exactly why these reports need to be carefully reviewed. I’m glad I could help get the settlement much closer to the true market value of such a special S2000. Thank you again for the recommendation and for trusting me to fight for you, Chris. Kind regards, Ken

I highly recommend Ken Nix at Leverage Auto Appraisals. When my 2024 Toyota 4Runner was declared a total loss, the insurance company tried to lowball me on the value of my vehicle and aftermarket upgrades. I hired Ken, and his tenacity was exactly what I needed. He truly fights for the little guy against the corporate bureaucracy. By coordinating directly with the state regulators and insurance company appraisers, while refusing to back down, he successfully secured a $3,056 increase over the initial insurance offer. If you are dealing with a total loss and need an expert who will relentlessly advocate for what you are owed, Ken is your guy.
Response from the owner:Scot, thank you so much for the outstanding review and for trusting me with your 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. That is one beautiful 4Runner, and I am glad we were able to secure an additional $3,056 over the original offer from Progressive. One of the biggest challenges in your claim was making sure the true value of both your vehicle and its aftermarket upgrades was recognized. Insurance companies do not always give those upgrades the consideration they deserve, so it often takes persistence, solid research, and a willingness to stand your ground. I appreciate your patience while I worked through the process because I truly believed your 4Runner was worth more than the initial offer reflected. Thank you again for your recommendation and your kind words. Helping people level the playing field during a total loss claim is exactly why I do this. I hope you never need my services again, but if you ever have questions in the future, you know how to reach me. Kind regards, Ken

I was happy to get a fair settlement with my insurance company.
Response from the owner:Ian, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, I really appreciate it. I am glad we were able to get you to a fair settlement, that is always the goal. I always tell people, choosing the right appraiser matters. There are a lot of auto appraisers out there doing all kinds of work, divorce, probate, classic cars, you name it. But total loss claims are their own animal. It is kind of like needing open heart surgery and being given three choices, a dentist, a chiropractor like Alan on Two and a Half Men, or a heart specialist. I mean… you are probably not picking Alan. Ha ha. I am really glad you trusted me with your claim and that we were able to get things where they should have been. Thank you again, and I am always here if you ever need help down the road. Kind regards, Ken

Ken Nix is a miracle worker. He got me over $4,373 over what my insurance was offering. He clearly explained the process to me. I have great confidence in his work and would recommend him to anyone.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. Miracle worker might be a little generous, but I will gladly accept it and try not to let it go to my head. I like to think of myself more as BATMAN. lol My goal is always to explain the process clearly so you know what is happening and why the insurance company’s offer may not reflect the true value of your vehicle. I also appreciate you providing the photo of your Infiniti. Details matter in a total loss insurance claim, and every piece of information helps tell the full story. I am very happy we were able to increase your settlement by $4,373 and help get you a much fairer result. Kind regards, Ken

My car was hit while parked on the street outside my house and it became a total loss! Ken help me out and appraised my highlander higher than what my insurance appraised it at. My settlement was 2,340.66 more than what my insurance originally offered me. Im so thankful that i found Ken and did not go with the low offer that my insurance appraised my car at. I would totally recommend Ken to anyone! He’s definitely a pro at what he does and i will definitely use him again if ever needed! Thanks Ken! Insurance Offer: $11,659.34 Settlement: $14,000.00 Increase: $2,340.66
Photo from customer reviewPhoto from customer review
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the awesome review, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Getting hit while parked is frustrating enough, and after seeing the photos you provided, that was some serious rear damage. Definitely not something anyone expects when their car is just sitting outside their home. I am really glad we were able to step in and help turn things around for you. That increase from $11,659.34 to $14,000 is exactly why it is so important to question those initial insurance valuations. Too often they come in low, and without pushing back, people end up leaving money on the table. We were able to use the appraisal clause process here in Oregon to get you closer to the true market value of your Highlander. Thank you again for your trust and the recommendation. It means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

James McNames
Great experience. They were able to negotiate a value that was approximately 50% higher than what the insurance company initially offered. Would use them again, and I strongly recommend them.
Response from the owner:James, thank you so much for the great review and recommendation. I really appreciate you trusting me with your total loss claim. I am glad we were able to increase your settlement by approximately 50 percent over the original offer from your insurance company. Claims like yours are a good reminder that the first offer is not always the final offer. My job is to research the market, build a credible appraisal, and then stand behind that value during negotiations. It is always rewarding when that work results in a settlement that is much closer to what the vehicle is actually worth. Thank you again for your recommendation. It was a pleasure working with you, and I hope you never need my services again. But if you ever do, or if you know someone dealing with a total loss, I will be happy to help. Kind regards, Ken

Jacob Riopelle (Jake Riopelle)
I was working with State Farm insurance, and received an appraisal from CCC for $13,400 for my 2013 Sienna. The car only had 1 only owner before me and was declared a total loss. I gave Ken a call and he let me know that they were way under evaluating my vehicle like I suspected. He worked with my insurance and in about a week he had gotten me from that $13,400.00 up to $19,600.00. Absolutely worth every penny Ken was fantastic to work with. Definitely recommend his services to anyone who has a totaled vehicle. Per Oregon law if the appraisal that you get from Ken or any other appraisal company is a penny over what the insurance company’s first appraisal of your vehicle your insurance company is liable to pay Ken’s fee. So overall, you’re basically getting a fantastic free service and more value for your vehicle. I hope I don’t ever total another vehicle but if I do, I’m calling Ken.
Response from the owner:Jake, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review, I truly appreciate it. It was an absolute pleasure working with you, and I am really glad you trusted your instincts when that $13,400 valuation just didn’t sit right. Getting your settlement up to $19,600 and securing that $6,200 increase is exactly why I do what I do. I am very passionate about helping people get what they truly deserve, not some lowball number that gets pushed on them in hopes they will just accept it and move on. The reality is, these insurance valuations are often riddled with problems. The comps are not inspected, have no photos, erased from the internet, and there is little to no transparency on condition assuming their comps are in excellent condition when in fact the majority they use are in worse. This is 2026, not 1994, there is no reason they can't provide photos of their comps. I regularly find vehicles with prior frame or structural damage, poor repairs, and even branded titles being used as comparables. It is honestly unacceptable. What frustrates me the most is how many people just take that first offer. There are hundreds of thousands of people every year across this country who accept less than what their vehicle is worth simply because they do not know they have options. Some of the increases I have seen are life changing. Last year alone, I had a claim increase by around $50,000. That should not even be possible if the system was working correctly, but it happens more often than people realize. I really do believe we should expect better from both insurance companies and the systems in place that are supposed to oversee them. Until that changes, I will keep doing everything I can to stand up for people and make sure they are treated fairly. Thank you again for your trust, your patience, and your recommendation. Hopefully you never need me again, but if you do, I have got your back. Kind regards, Ken

Ken Nix from Leverage Auto Appraisas is the man!!! He was able to negotiate a fair price for my totaled Toyota Tundra, he made a terrifying and stressful process look easy by doing the work with my insurance. Ken made sure insurance don’t keep your money, highly recommend using Ken for your appraisal needs, he will deliver. Insurance Offer: $16,296.00 Settlement: $20,600.00 Increase: $4,304.00
Photo from customer reviewPhoto from customer review
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the awesome review, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. And thank you for posting the photos of your truck, that Tundra was a very nice truck. Always makes it a little tougher when you see how clean and well kept a vehicle was before a total loss. I am really glad I could help make a stressful situation a lot easier for you. Going from $16,296 to $20,600 is a strong result, and exactly why it is so important to challenge those initial insurance offers. Too often they come in low, and without pushing back, people end up settling for less than what their vehicle is actually worth. I truly appreciate your trust and the recommendation. It means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

I had just bought a beautiful 2015 BMW X5 35d a month prior to hitting a deer and having Progressive call it a total loss. I knew the offer from Progressive was not going to allow me to replace the l X5 that I was just getting to know when, after some searching online, found Ken. I filled out the form on his website and heard back from him the next day saying he'd take my case on and that he could help. The entire process took about a month total, from hiring Ken to finally getting my payout. At times, it took a few days for Ken to get back to me and time for insurance to respond. It was stressful, but made much easier by Ken's re-assuring and calm easy going demeanor. As soon as Progressive, got Ken's letter of arbitration, they offered me over $4000 more, the next morning! Partly this was because Progressive was trying to get out of arbitration and didn't want to reimburse Ken's fee to me, but they eventually did. While it didn't happen overnight, it was the holidays, Ken made the whole process much easier and I would hire him again if I ever needed to and have recommended him already. I think it was about $4300 total more that Ken helped negotiate! Thank you Ken
Response from the owner:I really appreciate you sharing this, thank you. And yes, that was a sharp BMW, definitely a tough one to see go so soon after you picked it up. Unfortunately, that is when a lot of people first realize how far off insurance valuations can be. You did exactly the right thing by questioning the offer and reaching out. As a licensed auto appraiser here in Oregon, I see it all the time where vehicles like yours are undervalued through automated reports. I am glad we were able to step in, invoke the appraisal clause, and ultimately help you secure about $4300 more on your total loss settlement. That is money that makes a real difference when trying to replace a vehicle like that. I know the process can feel stressful at times, especially with a little waiting involved, but I am glad I was able to help make it more manageable along the way. Thank you again for your trust, your patience, and for recommending me to others. That means everything. Kind regards, Ken

I had a somewhat rare version of a vehicle that was stolen. Insurance decided to compare it to a much more common and cheaper version and refused to budge. Luckily I found Leverage. Not only did Leverage get my insurance to compare to a like version, which almost doubled what I received, but they got me almost 50% more than the revised value. If your insurance is being stubborn with you talk to Leverage.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the great review and for trusting me with your claim. Cases involving rare or uncommon vehicles, especially trucks, can be some of the most challenging because insurance companies often try to compare them to more common, lower value models that simply are not the same. Condition and History are very important when it comes to rare or collectible vehicles. It can make the difference of that vehicle being a collectible, or just a generic car or truck. I was really happy we were able to get the valuation based on the correct version of your truck first, and then continue negotiating to increase the settlement even further. That is exactly why I never take the path of least resistance. If I believe the evidence supports a higher value, I'm going to do everything in my power to get that amount. Every vehicle deserves to be compared to what it actually is, not to a less valuable version that happens to be easier to find. Thank you again for your recommendation. Reviews like yours help others realize they do not have to accept an unfair valuation just because the insurance company says it is correct. It was a pleasure working with you, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to help. Kind regards, Ken

So I recently totaled my truck and my insurance company tried to tell me my truck was worth $56307. That number just did not sit well with me due to the fact to replace my exact truck it would be closer to $65k, I reached out to Ken at Leverage and he was able to get me just shy of $63k. Couldn't be happier! Thanks a bunch Ken, you're a life saver.
Response from the owner:Dylan, thank you again for the awesome review and for trusting me with your State Farm total loss claim on your 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. What really stood out to me about your case was that, as a used car manager for a major Toyota dealership, you immediately recognized the CCC valuation from State Farm was not reflecting the true replacement value of your truck here in Oregon. The important thing is that this was never about a lack of knowledge on your part. In fact, you probably understood Toyota vehicle values better than 99 percent of people dealing with a total loss claim. The real problem was the process itself. State Farm and CCC ONE controlled the valuation process and had the ability to pick and choose which comparable vehicles they wanted to use while dismissing stronger comps that supported a higher value. That creates a situation where even someone highly experienced in the automotive industry can become completely handicapped trying to negotiate fairly on their own. Luckily, because of your background in the industry, you recognized early on what many people unfortunately do not realize until it is too late. You understood that all the knowledge in the world can still be insufficient when the insurance company and CCC1 control the valuation process itself. You realized this was not simply about finding better comps. It required pushing the claim into the appraisal clause process and having someone involved who specializes specifically in total loss appraisal clause disputes and negotiating against these CCC ONE valuation systems every day. I’m really glad we were able to secure a $6,289 increase over the original State Farm CCC ONE valuation, bringing your settlement to just under $63,000. That is a substantial increase and much closer to the true market value of your truck. Thank you again for reaching out from the Grants Pass area and allowing me to help. Cases like yours are exactly why I continue fighting for Oregon drivers dealing with unfair total loss valuations and lowball CCC 1 reports from State Farm and other insurance companies. Kind regards, Ken

Portland Total Loss Vehicle Appraisals

At Leverage Auto Appraisals in Portland, Oregon, we understand the frustration and confusion that can arise when your insurance company undervalues your vehicle after a total loss. Situated in the heart of a city renowned for its rich culture and landmarks like the historic Portland Art Museum, our team is dedicated to ensuring that locals receive fair treatment in their auto insurance claims.

Dealing with a total loss vehicle claim can be a trying experience, especially when the settlement offer from your insurance company doesn’t reflect the true car value or vehicle value. This situation is all too common in Portland, where residents frequently face challenges in getting fair compensation for their totaled car following a car accident or incidents involving Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Your Path to a Fair Offer:

  1. Challenging the Offer: If your insurance company’s valuation falls short, the appraisal clause in your policy is your tool for contesting their offer.
  2. Conducting Independent Appraisals: As part of this process, you have the right to obtain an independent appraisal at your expense, while your insurance company does the same.
  3. Resolving Discrepancies: In cases where these appraisals differ, an umpire is appointed to settle the value dispute, with the costs split between you and the insurer.
  4. Oregon Law Advantage: Under Oregon law, if the final appraised value is higher than your insurer’s last offer, they are obligated to reimburse you for the appraisal costs.

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, we specialize in navigating these complex scenarios. Our team, led by our experienced auto appraiser, Ken Nix, is committed to helping Portland residents stand up to insurance companies that undervalue their vehicles. We provide a comprehensive and free evaluation of your total loss claim, empowering you to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the dispute.

Our approach is personalized and focused. Unlike larger appraisal firms, each case at Leverage Auto Appraisals receives the detailed attention it deserves. We understand the unique aspects of Portland’s vehicle market, ensuring that your claim reflects the real market value, be it for everyday cars or more specialized vehicles seen in Copart or IAAI auctions.

For Portland residents facing total loss situations, remember that you have a right to fair treatment. Don’t settle for less than what your vehicle is worth. Contact Leverage Auto Appraisals for professional guidance and support in ensuring you receive a fair and just settlement. We stand with you, advocating for your rights, and ensuring that the value of your vehicle is recognized and compensated appropriately.
