We’re Local in Oregon

When your vehicle is declared a total loss by your insurance company, particularly in the wake of a car accident or a stolen vehicle incident, it can be a stressful and confusing time. This declaration typically means that the cost of repairs could equal or even exceed your vehicle’s retail market value. In such scenarios, Leverage Auto Appraisals steps in as your ally, ensuring that you receive the full retail value of your car, encompassing all applicable Tax, Title, and Licensing Fees, a right strongly upheld in Oregon.

If you find yourself with an offer from your insurance company that seems unfairly low, remember that you are not without recourse. Our professional services in Portland, set against the backdrop of iconic local landmarks like the Portland Japanese Garden and the bustling Pearl District, provide a sense of familiarity and trust for our clients.

Leverage Auto Appraisals is here to assist. We’re not affiliated with any insurance companies, meaning our sole focus is on securing a fair settlement for you. Our expertise is particularly crucial in Oregon, where law mandates 100% reimbursement for appraisal costs if we manage to increase the value over the insurance company’s last offer by even a single cent.

Our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser, Ken Nix (Certification #V34-075), specializes in providing car appraisals for a range of situations including Totaled vehicle Insurance claims, Total Loss Appraisal Clause Disputes, and negotiation for stolen or totaled Trucks and Cars. We have noticed a trend with CCC ONE, Mitchell, and JD Powers valuations, particularly for Diesel Trucks with the 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, coming in at values as low as 30 percent of their true market value. This is where the appraisal clause in your policy becomes crucial, allowing you to challenge these lowball valuations effectively.

Don’t let an unfair offer set you back. If you’re in Portland, Oregon, and need assistance with a total loss claim, Leverage Auto Appraisals is your first step towards a fair settlement. Contact us now for a free Claim Review at (503) 567-8900. We are here to ensure that your car value or vehicle value reflects its true worth in the market, irrespective of the situation – be it a car accident, Copart, IAAI involvements, or other circumstances leading to your vehicle being totaled.

Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

Great working with Ken! Very professional and knowledgeable. Did an excellent job explaining the whole process. Can’t recommend him enough.

I had a no-fault total loss vehicle claim, and dealing with the at-fault driver's insurance company (USAA) was an absolute nightmare. They only offered me $4,296.00, and the process was incredibly frustrating. Thankfully, Ken stepped in and worked his magic, securing $8,999.00 for me—way beyond what I had anticipated! If I ever find myself in this situation again, I’ll definitely turn to Ken without hesitation. I’ve already recommended him to all my relatives. Insurance companies might not have your back, but Ken certainly does!
Response from the owner:Mona, thank you so much for the kind review and for putting your trust in me during such a frustrating claim. That original $4,296 offer from USAA was, frankly, ridiculous. I’m proud we pushed back and got you $8,999, even if they were too stingy to throw in that final dollar. I guess leaving you one dollar shy of $9,000 made their day... but it made ours too, because we fought back and won big! It’s an honor to be your advocate when the insurance company won’t step up. I’m especially grateful you’re already recommending me to family—that's the best compliment I could ask for. Kind regards, Ken

Our BMW was in an accident and totaled. The insurance carrier did the usual low ball routine and was very uncommunicative. I contacted Ken and was very impressed with his knowledge and expertise regarding the tactics in the insurance industry. This man knows his stuff and I would highly recommend him for any auto insurance claim disagreement.

Ken knows his stuff. He provided a free telephone consultation during which he essentially promised he would get me a better deal than what the insurance company was offering, and he 100% delivered. Based on how the law works in Oregon, if the appraiser gets you even a nickel more than the insurance company offer, the insurance company has to pay for your appraiser, so Ken's work on my behalf netted me about 25% more than the insurance company offer, and his work didn't cost me a nickel. I would 100% putting your trust in this man.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words Andy. They've definitely made it hard on me lately. So many of these insurance companies are now hirig out of state large appraisal firms that have million dollar contracts with the insurance companies. So few ethical appraisers we're working with now days. Even after I spend hours researching some of their comps and showing why they shouldn't be used, they just change the comps and manipulate them another way. I've been doing this for nearly 15 years professionally, with over 4,000 total loss claims. Up until 3 months ago, I had only had 27 times that an opposing appraiser came in under the Market value from the insurance company. In the last 3 months, I've had 19. that says something about the way they're handling claims lately. I think it's mostly due to the high losses over the past few years, but with some I think it's just a cash grab. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review. I really appreciate it. I just wanted to add one last thing. According to the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation, you can not receive less than the last offer. I've been having a lot of clients tell me their adjusters said that if we came to a determination that the value was less than the last offer, they could actually get less. This is not true. Only in the event there was fraud or something significant such as the mileage was rolled back, etc. could this happen. Ken

My name is Daniel, I was overwhelmed after my total lost in Oct-2024. I thought that the insurance would screw me over, but I found Ken Nix from auto leverage locally owned in Oregon. In less than a month he made all his effort and it did work. I got a total value of $8,800 on Monday 27th 2025, amazing work that he did. The guidance he has and the quality customer service are unmatchable. Going on a vacation with that money thanks to Mr.Ken.
Response from the owner:Thank you, Daniel! I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I know how overwhelming a total loss can be, especially when dealing with an insurance company that’s trying to undercut the true value of your vehicle. I’m glad I was able to step in and secure a **$8,800 settlement** on your **State Farm total loss claim** in less than a month. That’s exactly why I do what I do—to make sure people like you aren’t left shortchanged. Also, per **Oregon law OAR 836-080-0240**, **State Farm was required to reimburse you 100% of the appraisal fee**, meaning you got the full benefit of the increase without any out-of-pocket cost for the appraisal itself. Enjoy that well-deserved vacation, and if you ever need help in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks again for trusting me with your claim! —Ken

Ken was awesome! He went above and beyond and was able to get more than double the value I was offered by my insurance company. Really understood the value of my vehicle as it was a rare car! He was also very quick and helped reached a settlement quickly! Would highly recommend and strongly advise hiring if the value of your vehicle is in question.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the awesome review! I’m glad we were able to secure a **$6,955 increase** on your **2003 Lexus IS 300** claim with **State Farm**, bringing your total settlement to **$11,900**—a **140.6% increase** over their original lowball offer of **$4,945**. Rare and unique vehicles are often undervalued because insurers rely on flawed automated systems that fail to recognize their true market worth. I make it a priority to research and present accurate valuations so my clients get what they actually deserve. I'm also happy we were able to reach a fair settlement quickly! Additionally, per **Oregon law OAR 836-080-0240**, **State Farm was required to reimburse you 100% of our appraisal fee**, meaning you not only secured a significantly higher payout but also had your appraisal costs fully covered. I truly appreciate your recommendation, and if you ever need help in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks again for trusting me with your claim! —Ken

Ken Nix does an awesome job, great communication, great guy. He has negotiated with insurance values on two vehicles for me now. Wouldn't go to anyone else. He got me 4-5k more both times, dont let insurance lowball your cars value. Reminder: Oregon law requires insurance to reimburse your costs for an appraisal for just a penny in raised value and he will get it for you, so don't hesitate.

Ken did a great job. He increased my settlement considerably and made it all super easy. He's a genuinely nice guy helping people by providing a much needed service.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the great review! I’m glad I could **significantly increase your settlement** and make the process easy for you. State Farm, like many insurance companies, often undervalues vehicles, but I’m committed to ensuring my clients get what they truly deserve. Also, per **Oregon law OAR 836-080-0240**, **State Farm was required to reimburse you 100% of the appraisal fee**, so not only did you receive a higher payout, but your appraisal costs were fully covered as well. I appreciate your kind words and for trusting me with your claim. If you ever need help again, don’t hesitate to reach out! —Ken

Went out of his way to help me and give me knowledge about some Oregon Laws that I was able to help.use againt my Claim Very Thankful for someone who's isn't all about the money!!!
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words Skyler. I actually started advocating for consumers back in 2005 when I realized I was justifying everything I did, no matter how bad it was. I didn't want my kids to grow up like that person, so I started helping people on forums first, then started my own forums where I helped people for free. In 2010, I moved to doing this professionally. I'm by no means rich, with the exception of my family and friends, which I could be compared to Elon there. LOL But, I make a nice living and it's a huge bonus to be able to help people along the way, even if I don't get paid. My son sent me a meme today, that was about how all the material things we cherish will either be trash or belong to someone else in 100 years. Family, Friends, Relationships and being your best should be on everyone's top priority. I'm a true believer in Karma, you reap what you sow. 'nuff said. - ('Nuff Said credit to Stan Lee who believed in fighting for the underdog.)

Ken was wonderful to work with and to have on my side. The insurance company was trying to lowball our totaled vehicle and after reaching out to him he did all the work and got us a substantial amount above what insurance was " willing to pay". He is also a wealth of knowledge and very passionate about his customers.

Ken was super knowledgable and helpful in walking me through my insurance appraisal and helped me get an increase in the insurance offer. I'd use him again in a heartbeat and recommend him to anyone looking for help with insurance appraisals.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words Aaron. I very happy I could put an additional $3,000 in your pocket. Thank you for choosing me as your auto apprasier. Kind regards, Ken

Portland Total Loss Vehicle Appraisals

At Leverage Auto Appraisals in Portland, Oregon, we understand the frustration and confusion that can arise when your insurance company undervalues your vehicle after a total loss. Situated in the heart of a city renowned for its rich culture and landmarks like the historic Portland Art Museum, our team is dedicated to ensuring that locals receive fair treatment in their auto insurance claims.

Dealing with a total loss vehicle claim can be a trying experience, especially when the settlement offer from your insurance company doesn’t reflect the true car value or vehicle value. This situation is all too common in Portland, where residents frequently face challenges in getting fair compensation for their totaled car following a car accident or incidents involving Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Your Path to a Fair Offer:

  1. Challenging the Offer: If your insurance company’s valuation falls short, the appraisal clause in your policy is your tool for contesting their offer.
  2. Conducting Independent Appraisals: As part of this process, you have the right to obtain an independent appraisal at your expense, while your insurance company does the same.
  3. Resolving Discrepancies: In cases where these appraisals differ, an umpire is appointed to settle the value dispute, with the costs split between you and the insurer.
  4. Oregon Law Advantage: Under Oregon law, if the final appraised value is higher than your insurer’s last offer, they are obligated to reimburse you for the appraisal costs.

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, we specialize in navigating these complex scenarios. Our team, led by our experienced auto appraiser, Ken Nix, is committed to helping Portland residents stand up to insurance companies that undervalue their vehicles. We provide a comprehensive and free evaluation of your total loss claim, empowering you to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the dispute.

Our approach is personalized and focused. Unlike larger appraisal firms, each case at Leverage Auto Appraisals receives the detailed attention it deserves. We understand the unique aspects of Portland’s vehicle market, ensuring that your claim reflects the real market value, be it for everyday cars or more specialized vehicles seen in Copart or IAAI auctions.

For Portland residents facing total loss situations, remember that you have a right to fair treatment. Don’t settle for less than what your vehicle is worth. Contact Leverage Auto Appraisals for professional guidance and support in ensuring you receive a fair and just settlement. We stand with you, advocating for your rights, and ensuring that the value of your vehicle is recognized and compensated appropriately.
