We’re Local in Oregon

When your vehicle is declared a total loss by your insurance company, particularly in the wake of a car accident or a stolen vehicle incident, it can be a stressful and confusing time. This declaration typically means that the cost of repairs could equal or even exceed your vehicle’s retail market value. In such scenarios, Leverage Auto Appraisals steps in as your ally, ensuring that you receive the full retail value of your car, encompassing all applicable Tax, Title, and Licensing Fees, a right strongly upheld in Oregon.

If you find yourself with an offer from your insurance company that seems unfairly low, remember that you are not without recourse. Our professional services in Portland, set against the backdrop of iconic local landmarks like the Portland Japanese Garden and the bustling Pearl District, provide a sense of familiarity and trust for our clients.

Leverage Auto Appraisals is here to assist. We’re not affiliated with any insurance companies, meaning our sole focus is on securing a fair settlement for you. Our expertise is particularly crucial in Oregon, where law mandates 100% reimbursement for appraisal costs if we manage to increase the value over the insurance company’s last offer by even a single cent.

Our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser, Ken Nix (Certification #V34-075), specializes in providing car appraisals for a range of situations including Totaled vehicle Insurance claims, Total Loss Appraisal Clause Disputes, and negotiation for stolen or totaled Trucks and Cars. We have noticed a trend with CCC ONE, Mitchell, and JD Powers valuations, particularly for Diesel Trucks with the 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, coming in at values as low as 30 percent of their true market value. This is where the appraisal clause in your policy becomes crucial, allowing you to challenge these lowball valuations effectively.

Don’t let an unfair offer set you back. If you’re in Portland, Oregon, and need assistance with a total loss claim, Leverage Auto Appraisals is your first step towards a fair settlement. Contact us now for a free Claim Review at (503) 567-8900. We are here to ensure that your car value or vehicle value reflects its true worth in the market, irrespective of the situation – be it a car accident, Copart, IAAI involvements, or other circumstances leading to your vehicle being totaled.

Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

I highly recommend consulting with Ken Nix before accepting any insurance offer. My vehicle was damaged by a tow truck operator and declared totaled by State Farm. They offered me a ridiculously low settlement for a vehicle that I had purchased just one month prior. After struggling with my claims specialist for several weeks, I reached out to Ken and he was able increase my settlement to $5,009 from State Farm's initial offer $2,176. Ken knows the business extremely well and will make sure you get a fair offer.
Response from the owner:Alan, thank you for the kind words and the strong recommendation. Getting a low offer after your vehicle was damaged by a tow truck operator and declared a total loss is enough to make anyone feel like they are getting steamrolled. Buying the vehicle only one month before the loss makes that original $2,176 offer from State Farm even harder to swallow. I am really glad you reached out before accepting it. Increasing the settlement to $5,009 was a strong result and well over a 50 percent increase. I do apologize that the process took longer than normal because of my own wreck, and I truly appreciate your patience while I worked through that. Helping Oregon drivers with an insurance claim car value dispute is exactly why I do this work, and I am happy we could get you a much fairer outcome. Kind regards, Ken

Hello everyone, hope you come out as good as we did. My daughter and I totaled out my truck, and hurt my trailer and early bronco pretty bad. Insurance took care of the bronco fair so far. But my 2005 Dodge Cummings 2500 with a six speed manual didn’t fair so well. My truck saved our lives by giving its own body in trade. I bought this truck new and it was still a well taken care of truck with a handfull of dents. Still had the original windshield in it. Well insurance didn’t see it like that. Trucks cost $70k to over $100k now a days and they think my truck was worth $12k. After arguing with a guy from State Farm about the unfair practices they use I was able to get them to finally sell me my truck back, which he said they couldn’t do. Plus give me $11k. This was still way below what these trucks sell for used. I called Ken and he said he would look into it. By the next morning he called me and said he found three trucks on the market worth around $27k. So I hired him and he started doing his thing. Now everyone wants upfront service with a smile. Ken did exactly that for us. It took 6 months to deal with State Farm at their pace. He stayed with them every step of the way. I ended up getting $22k for my truck after it was all said and done. It went from $16k to $22k. The best part is the insurance has to pay his fee for him being right on the price. This took some time so it’s not fun or easy, paying insurance on a truck that they owe you on it frustrating also. So give Ken a call and be patient. He can only work as fast as the insurance will go, which is snail speed. I don’t really know what I would have done without him, I would of ate $6k just to be done with the insurance company. I’m glad I called him, he’s always a pleasure to talk to and a super easy guy to approach. Thanks Ken!

Response from the owner:Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, I truly appreciate it. And I especially want to thank you for posting the photos. That really does mean a lot. It helps people see that these are real situations with real vehicles and real outcomes. Even just sharing the truck makes a big difference, and I wish more people would do that. This was definitely one of those claims that required some patience, and I really appreciate you sticking with it and trusting the process. I know six months is not fun, especially when you are dealing with the insurance company at what feels like a snail’s pace. Unfortunately, I can only move as fast as they allow, but you gave me the space to do what I do, and that is what allowed us to move things from $16,000 up to $22,000. That $6,000 difference is exactly what most people end up losing when they get frustrated and just settle. I will be honest, this one did frustrate me a bit because I truly believe your truck was worth more. A Cummins with a six speed is not your average truck, and the market reflects that. I could have easily taken the path of least resistance and gone ahead and settled early for a couple thousand dollars more, like a lot of appraisers do, but that is not who I am. I did not get into this to chase quick settlements, I got into this to help people get what their vehicles are actually worth. The challenge we ran into here was dealing with an out of state appraiser who really did not understand the Oregon market. That is something I am seeing more and more, and it makes these cases tougher than they should be. We pushed it right up to the point where going further would have risked what we had already gained on an umpire, hoping they will be ethical 🙄, and that is always a tough call. My job is not just to push, but to protect what we have already secured for my client. At the end of the day, I am really glad we were able to get you a strong result, and more importantly, I am glad you did not have to just accept that initial number. Thank you again for your trust, your patience, and for taking the time to help others by sharing your experience. It really does make a difference. Kind regards, Ken

Ken at Leverage Auto Appraisers is truly amazing. I was ready to give up in despair dealing with my claims specialist at State Farm, who was undervaluing our 2010 Toyota Highlander (which State Farm totaled after we hit a deer). Ken was a straight shooter, is extremely knowledgeable about the entire convoluted process, and helped every step of the way. Getting the appraisal from Ken was unexpectedly easy and fast (once State Farm assigned their appraiser, which took several weeks). Ken is a a pro and has real integrity! And he saved us over $2000!!!
Response from the owner:Sandy, thank you so much for the incredible review, I truly appreciate you taking the time to share this. It was absolutely awesome working with you, and I am really glad I could help turn things around when it felt like you were hitting a wall. Dealing with a total loss after hitting a deer is stressful enough, and when the valuation comes in low, it just adds to that frustration. I hear that a lot, people feeling like they are running out of options. I am glad we were able to step in, work through the appraisal clause process, and get your Highlander where it should have been. That $2,000 plus increase makes a real difference. I also appreciate your patience with the timeline, especially waiting on State Farm to assign their appraiser. That part is unfortunately out of our control, but once things get moving, I do everything I can to keep it efficient and straightforward. Thank you again for your trust, your kind words, and your recommendation. It really means a lot to me, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

Ken was very helpful and transparent of the next steps and ways to pursue my claim. When I called his team requesting assistance on my out of state claim Ken return my phone call in a couple minutes and answered any question I had and continued to let me know if additional questions were raised to contact him.

Ken helped ease some stress and confusion I had and I greatly appreciate all the help
Response from the owner:Thank you, Cesilia! It was a real pleasure helping you through this process. I know out-of-state claims can come with a few extra wrinkles, but I’m glad we could simplify things and get you the clarity you needed. Fast communication and clear next steps are a big part of how we support our clients, so I’m thrilled to hear that made a difference for you. We are here for Oregon drivers and beyond, whether it is an insurance value dispute or just figuring out what to do next. Don’t hesitate to reach out again if anything else comes up. We are just a phone call away. Kind regards, Ken

Ken Nix does an awesome job, great communication, great guy. He has negotiated with insurance values on two vehicles for me now. Wouldn't go to anyone else. He got me 4-5k more both times, dont let insurance lowball your cars value. Reminder: Oregon law requires insurance to reimburse your costs for an appraisal for just a penny in raised value and he will get it for you, so don't hesitate.
Response from the owner:Caleb, thank you so much for the awesome review, I truly appreciate it. And I have to say, it has been great working with you not just once, but twice now. That really means a lot to me. Of course, I always say I hope you never need me again because that usually means something went wrong, but if you do, I will always be here to help. My goal is always the same, to make sure you get what you should be getting and not some lowball valuation that the insurance company tries to put in front of you. I also want to personally thank you for the referrals. I have definitely had several people mention your name over the past few months, and that means more than you know. That kind of trust and support is everything in this business. Thank you again for everything, and I hope you have a blessed day. Kind regards, Ken

Ken was great! Helped us get more value for our car & was wonderful to work with. We highly recommend him!
Response from the owner:Tim, thank you so much for the great review, I truly appreciate it. It was awesome working with you, and I am really glad I could help you get more value for your vehicle through the total loss appraisal process. That is always the goal, making sure you are not stuck accepting a low insurance valuation and helping you get the true market value for your car. These total loss claims can be frustrating, especially when the initial offer comes in low, so I always try to make the appraisal clause process as smooth and straightforward as possible. Thank you again for your trust and your recommendation. I am always here if you ever need help with a total loss or insurance claim in the future. Kind regards, Ken

Ken did very good job negotiating a settlement. It was a great experience and I got what I thought I deserved. Thanks again Ken!
PortlandPortland
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for the great review, I truly appreciate it. I am really glad we were able to get you to a settlement that felt right, that is always the goal. And I especially want to thank you for providing the photos of that red Ram truck. That means more than most people realize. Those diesel trucks in particular are getting lowballed so badly right now, it is honestly insane. Seeing the actual vehicle helps tell the real story and shows just how far off some of these insurance valuations can be. It also really helps other people see that these are real claims with real results, not something made up or bought somewhere online. I truly appreciate you taking the extra time to do that. You have no idea how much that helps. Thank you again for your trust, I really appreciate you. Kind regards, Ken

I cannot say enough good things about leverage auto appraisals. First off Ken is very kind and knowledgeable. We had never been in an accident before and he explained the process and what to expect. State farm gave us a total loss on our Dodge grand caravan and tried to offer us $12,233 after Kens hard work he got us back $17,950. He's fast and efficient. Our whole process took a total of 3 days. If you need an appraisal done I would highly recommend leverage auto appraisals.
Response from the owner:Jessica, thank you so much for the amazing review, I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It was honestly awesome working with you, and I am really glad I could help guide you through everything, especially since this was your first time dealing with a total loss situation. That jump from $12,233 to $17,950, a $5,700 increase, is a fantastic result. And on a van, that is saying a lot. Most of the time we see increases in that $3,000 to $4,000 range on vans, so getting close to $6,000 definitely made me feel like I had my Wheaties that morning. I am just glad I was able to help you get what your vehicle was actually worth. State Farm does tend to rely on CCC valuations, which in my experience are often on the low side. That said, I will give credit where it is due, State Farm is generally a solid insurance company, and many of the appraisers they hire tend to be more ethical than some others out there. That definitely helps when it comes to reaching a fair resolution. Thank you again for your trust and for recommending Leverage Auto Appraisals. It truly means a lot, and I am always here if you ever need help again. Kind regards, Ken

I was recently involved in an accident which totaled my beloved 100 Series Land Cruiser. I consider myself to be a pretty good negotiator and figured I would be able to get a decent settlement from my insurance company.

I was WRONG. It was a gigantic, time-wasting headache. After spending a bunch of time gathering and submitting documentation to prove that their settlement offer was absurdly low they agreed and increased their offer by $500 - ridiculous.

At this point I engaged Ken to help. He was a steady hand through the entire process and provided a real education on how this whole dumb system works. In the end he was able to get the offer increased by over $8k (!) which made the final settlement much closer to what the value of the car was.

If you find yourself in a similar situation I suggest not wasting your time trying to do it yourself. Just hire Ken. He'll do a great job, take all the guess-work out of it and will almost definitely get you more money.

Also, if he gets the insurance company to increase their offer by any amount then they are obligated to reimburse you for Ken's fee!

Thanks Ken!
Response from the owner:Jeremy, thank you so much for the incredible review, I truly appreciate it. And I have to say, I still tell your story all the time because it is such a perfect example of how this whole process really works. You did everything right. You gathered your comps, you made your case, you pushed back… and they came up $500. That right there says everything. It is frustrating, it is time consuming, and it makes you feel like you are just spinning your wheels. I remember thinking the same thing when I first saw your claim. That initial offer was just way off, especially for a 100 Series Land Cruiser. Those vehicles have a strong following and hold their value extremely well. I figured we might have to make some concessions along the way, but I was really glad we were able to push it all the way up to around $23,500 and get you that $8,000 plus increase. More than anything, I just really enjoyed working with you. You are a great guy, easy to talk to, and you made the process enjoyable on my end as well. I really appreciate your patience and your trust in letting me handle everything. Thank you again for the kind words and for sharing your experience. It truly means a lot. Kind regards, Ken

I was recently in a car accident that unfortunately totaled my truck. Thankfully, no one was hurt. I assumed my insurance company would handle everything smoothly, but from the start, I felt like I got the runaround. When they finally gave me a vehicle appraisal, the offer seemed far too low. I explained all the features, add-ons, and the truck’s low mileage, but none of that seemed to matter—they continued to make excuses and stick with a lowball offer.
I felt completely stuck until a friend of my wife’s suggested I call Ken Nix. Under our policy, we had the right to get a second appraisal from an independent professional if we disagreed with the insurance company’s valuation. Reaching out to Ken was the best decision we could have made. He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and truly fought for our family. Thanks to his expertise and persistence, we received a fair payout that reflected the true value of our truck.
We are extremely grateful for everything Ken did—his communication, dedication, and skill made the entire process so much easier. It’s reassuring to know there are people like Ken out there who will stand up for you when you need it most. If you’re feeling lost or want a second opinion, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Ken Nix a call. He knows exactly what he’s doing and genuinely cares about helping his clients.
Response from the owner:Louis, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. First and most importantly, I am very glad no one was hurt. A totaled truck is bad enough, but when the insurance company gives you the runaround and then refuses to recognize the low mileage, features, and added equipment, it can make a stressful situation feel ten times worse. I am grateful your wife’s friend pointed you in my direction, and I am honored you trusted me to help with your total loss appraisal clause claim here in Oregon. I truly do care about my clients and their families. My cousin, Harold Wayne Nix, was an esteemed attorney who passed away last month, and he spent his life fighting for the underdog. He was my role model in that way, and I try to carry that same spirit into every insurance claim car value dispute I handle. Thank you again for trusting Leverage Auto Appraisals. I am so glad we were able to stand up for the true value of your truck and help get your family a fair payout. Kind regards, Ken

Ken was amazing and got my husband and I $2,000 more than State Farm initially offered us for our 2015 Honda Civic. It really made the difference in shopping for another vehicle. Thank you Ken!!
Response from the owner:Mary, thank you so much for the kind words, I truly appreciate it. It was awesome working with you and your husband, and I am really glad we were able to get you that additional $2,000 on your total loss claim. That extra amount can make a big difference when it comes to replacing your vehicle, especially in today’s market. Insurance company valuations do not always reflect the true market value, so being able to step in and help through the appraisal clause process is exactly why I do what I do. Thank you again for your trust and your recommendation. I am always here if you ever need help with a total loss or insurance appraisal in the future. Kind regards, Ken

Ken delivered as advertised and I can confidently recommend him. He was able to get us 5k over the insurance offer. I plan to use him again.

Response from the owner:Dave, thank you so much for the great review, I truly appreciate it. It was awesome working with you, and I am really glad we were able to get you that additional $5,000 over the insurance company’s initial offer. That is exactly why the total loss appraisal process exists, to make sure you are not stuck accepting a low insurance valuation that does not reflect the true market value of your vehicle. These total loss claims can be frustrating, but having someone on your side who understands the appraisal clause process makes a big difference. I really appreciate your trust and your recommendation, and I will always be here if you need help with another insurance claim or total loss appraisal in the future. Kind regards, Ken

Portland Total Loss Vehicle Appraisals

At Leverage Auto Appraisals in Portland, Oregon, we understand the frustration and confusion that can arise when your insurance company undervalues your vehicle after a total loss. Situated in the heart of a city renowned for its rich culture and landmarks like the historic Portland Art Museum, our team is dedicated to ensuring that locals receive fair treatment in their auto insurance claims.

Dealing with a total loss vehicle claim can be a trying experience, especially when the settlement offer from your insurance company doesn’t reflect the true car value or vehicle value. This situation is all too common in Portland, where residents frequently face challenges in getting fair compensation for their totaled car following a car accident or incidents involving Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Your Path to a Fair Offer:

  1. Challenging the Offer: If your insurance company’s valuation falls short, the appraisal clause in your policy is your tool for contesting their offer.
  2. Conducting Independent Appraisals: As part of this process, you have the right to obtain an independent appraisal at your expense, while your insurance company does the same.
  3. Resolving Discrepancies: In cases where these appraisals differ, an umpire is appointed to settle the value dispute, with the costs split between you and the insurer.
  4. Oregon Law Advantage: Under Oregon law, if the final appraised value is higher than your insurer’s last offer, they are obligated to reimburse you for the appraisal costs.

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, we specialize in navigating these complex scenarios. Our team, led by our experienced auto appraiser, Ken Nix, is committed to helping Portland residents stand up to insurance companies that undervalue their vehicles. We provide a comprehensive and free evaluation of your total loss claim, empowering you to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the dispute.

Our approach is personalized and focused. Unlike larger appraisal firms, each case at Leverage Auto Appraisals receives the detailed attention it deserves. We understand the unique aspects of Portland’s vehicle market, ensuring that your claim reflects the real market value, be it for everyday cars or more specialized vehicles seen in Copart or IAAI auctions.

For Portland residents facing total loss situations, remember that you have a right to fair treatment. Don’t settle for less than what your vehicle is worth. Contact Leverage Auto Appraisals for professional guidance and support in ensuring you receive a fair and just settlement. We stand with you, advocating for your rights, and ensuring that the value of your vehicle is recognized and compensated appropriately.
