We’re Local in Oregon

In Salem, Oregon, facing a total loss vehicle scenario, whether it’s due to a car accident or a stolen vehicle, can be overwhelming. Leverage Auto Appraisals, known for its dedication to equitable and accurate car valuations, is your ally in these challenging times. Specializing in total loss appraisals, we are committed to ensuring that you receive the rightful retail value for your vehicle.

When an insurance company declares your vehicle a total loss in Salem, understanding the impact is vital. This typically means that repairing the vehicle might cost more than its present retail market value. At such times, the expertise of Leverage Auto Appraisals becomes indispensable. We are here to assist you in navigating these difficult times, ensuring your vehicle’s valuation is fair and in compliance with Oregon’s legal standards.

Set against the backdrop of Salem’s historical and cultural landmarks, like the Oregon State Capitol and the scenic Riverfront Park, our services resonate with the local community. We take pride in serving Salem’s residents with integrity and an in-depth understanding of the local automotive market.

Our services cater to those who believe their insurance company’s offer is unjustly low. We are independent of any insurance company affiliations, focusing solely on securing a fair settlement for you. According to Oregon law, you are entitled to a 100% reimbursement of the appraisal costs if the final appraised value is even slightly higher than the insurer’s last offer.

Ken Nix, our Oregon Certified Vehicle Appraiser (Certification #V34-075), specializes in managing total loss car appraisals, auto total loss appraisal insurance claim disputes, and negotiations for various vehicle types, including those linked with Copart and IAAI. We have observed that valuations, especially for certain types of vehicles like Diesel Trucks with 7.3, Duramax, or Cummins engines, are often much lower than their actual market value. This is where we step in, utilizing the appraisal clause in your policy to effectively dispute these low estimates.

If you are in Salem and find yourself dealing with a total loss insurance claim, don’t hesitate to contact Leverage Auto Appraisals. We offer a Free Total Loss Claim Review, dedicated to ensuring that your car value or vehicle value genuinely reflects its market worth. Our all-inclusive auto appraisal service provides everything you need to determine the cash value of your vehicle. With us you can have peace of mind and confidence in your claim. Other companies may claim to be the best auto appraisers in the Pacific Northwest, but we don’t work for insurance companies like they do. Haven’t you already dealt with enough misdirection and manipulation from your insurance company?

  1. Is there an auto appraiser near me? I cover all of Oregon, specializing in helping consumers with Oregon total loss insurance claims as an Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser since 2010.
  2. Oregon Total Loss Laws. The big secret your claims rep doesn’t want you to know is if your Oregon Certified Auto Appraiser increases your claim just one cent, yes, ONE PENNY, your insurance company has to reimburse you for the cost of the total loss appraisal.
  3. How can I negotiate with car insurance adjusters for my car’s total loss. YOU DON’T HAVE TO. Under your policy’s appraisal clause, you’re allowed to hire a vehicle appraiser and he can negotiate the claim for you.
  4. How much more can I get? My average increase this year, is $5,768.19 or 44.78 percent of the vehicle’s value. .
  5. When’s the best time to invoke my appraisal clause? The sooner the better. Ken has over a decade of experience working appraisal clause claims. Many insurance companies are known to give claimants a list of things to do if they want a higher value. Most of the times, this is just a ploy to get you to waste time while your vehicle goes down in value, so they can gain an even bigger advantage.

We Can Help! We specialize in Oregon Total loss Insurance claim disputes. If your vehicle has been declared a total loss and your insurance company is not providing a fair offer, and you need help, we can provide… LEVERAGE to get the value you should be receiving. Don’t go it alone, our Oregon Licensed Auto Appraiser, Ken Nix, can help you recover your full value by producing an appraisal under the appraisal clause of your insurance policy and negotiations with your insurance company.

I recommend Ken Nix at Leverage Auto Appraisals without hesitation. He was able to negotiate an additional $2,245 in compensation from my insurance company after I had exhausted all my personal resources/negotiations (+ the insurance company paid my fee to retain him). This was for a totaled 2013 VW Golf in March 2024. I was thrilled with the outcome and it was a hassle-free process. He was a thoroughly professional expert throughout and exceeded my expectations.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much Stormie for the awesome review. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. That was an insane dispute. It's crazy how these insurance companies can use appraisers from Kansas that have no idea of our market. They give them the Lion's share of their business and they have fear of loss of that business if they don't do what they're told. I made a suggestion to the Insurance Commissioner over 10 years ago that it would be more fair if they required an insurance company to go down a list of local appraisers willing to do appraisals rather than giving a few big companies the lion's share of the business. I feel this may not eliminate the corruption in the industry, but it would curtail it significantly. Thank you so much for choosing me as your auto appraiser. Ken

I had a total loss claim on a vehicle with a rebuilt title. After receiving what I perceived to be a low offer, I hired Ken based on the great reviews and was not disappointed. Ken helped negotiate on our behalf and was able to raise the appraised value by more than 20%. He was also very informative and helpful walking me through the process. I would highly recommend Leverage Auto Appraisals to others in a similar situation.
Response from the owner:Thank you, David! I really appreciate you taking the time to write a review. Makes me feel good to be able to get the extra $3,300 you should have been offered to begin with. It's crazy how low some of these valuations have been recently. I was reviewing my records this morning, and out of 84 claims I've settled in the past few months, only 18 had increases of less than $3,000. This should never happen. Before the pandemic, only about 20-30% of the appraisal clause claims I worked on saw increases over $3,000. Now it's reverse???? Something really weird is going on in my opinion.

If you want to talk about professionalism, experience, and honesty Ken is the man. He helped me understand the accident claim process and total loss comps and how insurance companies come up with payout amounts. He put me on ease to accept my settlement deal and move on. Thanks Ken
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words Babak. It's not very often I run up on a claim that is actually a good deal for the policyholder, but in your case, it was. I'm glad I could provide you with the information for you to make a well informed decision. It was really nice of you to take the time to write a review even though I wasn't able to help you achieve a higher settlement. If just everyone I helped get $3,000 or more on their claims wrote me a reviews, I'd have literally thousands of reviews instead of 80. So again, thank you VERY much to taking the time to provide your input.

I would give 10 stars if i could. Ken Nix of Leverage Auto Apprasials is very knowledgeable with years of experience. It is important to know that Ken has not worked for the insurance companies. This makes him a truly independent appraiser. Ken is transparent and keeps you in the loop. He increased my settlement $2,660 over what the insurance company offered. Very happy about that! Ken does his very best to get you the most money for your car. He was a great help to me in navigating the settlement process. I strongly and highly recommend Leverage Auto Appraisals. BTW from start to finish it took 4 business days to get the insurance company to agree to giving $2,660 more. The $499 fee was paid by the insurance company. Thank you Ken for all your help!! Keep up the good work!
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words Freddie. Fortunately, your claim went quickly because they hired a local appraiser as the opposing appraiser. I really appreciate you choosing me as your appraiser and expecially the 10 stars! 🙂 - Ken Also, just to clarify for others, Freddie initially paid my fee upfront, and State Farm had to reimburse the fee per Oregon Law OAR 836-080-0240 which states: "Your insurer must reimburse your reasonable appraisal costs if the final appraised value is greater than the insurer’s last offer."

I had an excellent experience with Leverage Auto Appraisals! Ken Nix and the team was professional, efficient, and incredibly knowledgeable. They provided a detailed, accurate appraisal of my vehicle and made the entire process seamless. The communication was clear, and they really took the time to explain everything to me. I highly recommend their services if you’re looking for reliable and trustworthy auto appraisal experts!
Response from the owner:Thank you so much for your kind words and for trusting Leverage Auto Appraisals! I’m thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience. We take pride in providing detailed, accurate appraisals and ensuring our clients fully understand the process. Clear communication is a priority because insurance claims can be confusing, and too many companies take advantage of that lack of knowledge. I’m glad we could make the process seamless for you. If you ever need assistance in the future, whether it’s another appraisal or just advice on dealing with insurance claims, don’t hesitate to reach out. Your recommendation means a lot, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Thanks again! —Ken

Ken is the man! He is the person, you would like to work with. My insurance company lowballed me and after a Google search, I hired Ken. He negotiated hard with them and raised the price by almost $2000 more. And I was reimbursed by the insurance company, so it was a free service for me. Appreciate your help, Ken.
Response from the owner:Thank you so much Mustafa for your kind words. I really feel we should have gotten more. And is why this took a longer than normal. Out of the last 126 claims I've settled over the past 4 1/2 months, I've only had 19 where the increase was $2,000 or under. The comparable vehicles in the market that were lower priced were impossible to discredit without going out and doing a physical inspection on them. I feel I'm very good at spotting current damages/issues, prior damage and bad repairs on opposing comparable vehicles that an opposing appraiser can come up with. But, when advertisements don't show the issues or the photos are from months previous, it's very hard to discredit their comps. Thank you for your trust, patience and for choosing me as your auto appraiser. - Ken

Ken knows his stuff. He provided a free telephone consultation during which he essentially promised he would get me a better deal than what the insurance company was offering, and he 100% delivered. Based on how the law works in Oregon, if the appraiser gets you even a nickel more than the insurance company offer, the insurance company has to pay for your appraiser, so Ken's work on my behalf netted me about 25% more than the insurance company offer, and his work didn't cost me a nickel. I would 100% putting your trust in this man.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the kind words Andy. They've definitely made it hard on me lately. So many of these insurance companies are now hirig out of state large appraisal firms that have million dollar contracts with the insurance companies. So few ethical appraisers we're working with now days. Even after I spend hours researching some of their comps and showing why they shouldn't be used, they just change the comps and manipulate them another way. I've been doing this for nearly 15 years professionally, with over 4,000 total loss claims. Up until 3 months ago, I had only had 27 times that an opposing appraiser came in under the Market value from the insurance company. In the last 3 months, I've had 19. that says something about the way they're handling claims lately. I think it's mostly due to the high losses over the past few years, but with some I think it's just a cash grab. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review. I really appreciate it. I just wanted to add one last thing. According to the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation, you can not receive less than the last offer. I've been having a lot of clients tell me their adjusters said that if we came to a determination that the value was less than the last offer, they could actually get less. This is not true. Only in the event there was fraud or something significant such as the mileage was rolled back, etc. could this happen. Ken

Ken did a fantastic job, both in helping us navigate the process and in achieving a fair result. The initial offer from our insurance company seemed unreasonably low, so I tried to negotiate a fair amount. It made a very small difference, but their final offer was still far too low. Thanks to Ken's knowledge and experience, our final settlement was 87% higher than that final offer from the insurance company. If you are in Oregon and your vehicle is declared a total loss, calling Leverage Auto Appraisals should unquestionably be your next step.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the fantastic review! I’m glad I could help you navigate the process and secure a $4,875 increase on your 2006 Honda Element total loss claim with State Farm—raising your settlement from $5,625 to $10,500, an 87% increase! Your experience is, unfortunately, a common one—insurance companies start with a lowball offer, and even when policyholders push back, they make only minimal adjustments. That’s why having an experienced appraiser on your side makes all the difference. I truly appreciate your trust and recommendation. If you ever need assistance again or know someone else facing a total loss, don’t hesitate to reach out. Thanks again for choosing Leverage Auto Appraisals! —Ken

After calling Ken and explaining my details he worked with my insurance assessor. After a couple weeks he was able to get me a 29% value increase over what my insurance offered me for the total loss of my car. Thank you Ken and Leverage Auto Appraisals for your work to get me what I felt my vehicle was worth.
Response from the owner:Thank you Ron, That was a nice settlement, but a hard claim. I'm really surprised they let us get that much without pushing to go to umpire earlier. Over the past couple of months, anytime we should have a large increase like this, opposing appraisers are trying to push it to Umpire. Which in my personal opinion, is a rigged system. Most of the umpires work for insurance companies. I'm seeing more and more appraisers target the Pacific Northwest from Florida, Utah, Michigan, California, and the funny thing is a lot of them are the same auto appraisers working for insurance companies and I'm negotiating against them. Thank you for selecting me as your auto appraiser Ron. So happy I could help. Thank you, Ron! That was indeed a nice settlement, though it was a very challenging claim. I’m honestly surprised the opposing appraiser didn’t push for an umpire earlier, especially with an increase this significant. Lately, whenever we’re aiming for a large increase, opposing appraisers are quick to push to go to umpire. A system that, in my personal opinion, often favors insurers, as most umpires have close ties with them. It’s also interesting to see more appraisers targeting the Pacific Northwest from places like Florida, Utah, Michigan, and California. Many of them are the same opposing appraisers I encounter working for insurance companies in other claims. I appreciate you choosing me as your auto appraiser and taking the time to write a review.

Reached out because my insurance provided me low offer on a total loss and I was not willing to settle. Everyone kept telling me to research and request a new offer based on all of the information I gathered. It makes no sense to do all this work when leverage Auto appraisals can do all of that work and has an established working relationship with insurance companies where he knows what information to provide to get the end result his clients are looking for. After it was all said and done they were able to get an offer within a very close amount of what I was looking for. I hope I never have to use their service again but if I will I certainly will come back to this company. Thank you again for your guidance and your hard work. Now if only I can find my wife another car like the one she lost.

Ken was wonderful to work with and to have on my side. The insurance company was trying to lowball our totaled vehicle and after reaching out to him he did all the work and got us a substantial amount above what insurance was " willing to pay". He is also a wealth of knowledge and very passionate about his customers.

Portland Total Loss Vehicle Appraisals

At Leverage Auto Appraisals, we specialize in providing services in Salem, Oregon, and are attuned to the challenges vehicle owners face when insurance companies undervalue their vehicles following a total loss. We cater exclusively to vehicle owners and insured policyholders, not insurance companies, ensuring our commitment lies solely with you. Our work in Salem, a city rich in historical and cultural heritage, marked by landmarks such as the Oregon State Capitol and the serene Bush’s Pasture Park, is focused on defending the interests of Salem’s residents in their auto insurance claims.

Navigating a total loss vehicle claim in Salem can be daunting, especially when the offer from your insurance company fails to reflect the true car value or vehicle value. This is a frequent challenge in Salem, where individuals often struggle to obtain just compensation for their totaled vehicles, whether due to a car accident or incidents with entities like Copart or IAAI.

The Appraisal Clause – Empowering Policyholders:

  1. Challenging Low Offers: If the valuation from your insurance company is inadequate, the appraisal clause in your policy is a powerful tool to dispute their offer.
  2. Independent Appraisal Right: As a vehicle owner, you have the right to seek an independent appraisal at your expense, while the insurance company does its evaluation.
  3. Umpire for Dispute Resolution: If there is a disagreement in appraisals, an impartial umpire is chosen jointly to establish the final value, with costs equally divided.
  4. Leveraging Oregon Law: Oregon law ensures that if the final appraised value is higher than the insurer’s last offer, they must cover your appraisal costs.

Leverage Auto Appraisals, led by our skilled auto appraiser, Ken Nix, is dedicated to assisting Salem’s vehicle owners. Our Free Total Loss Claim Review helps you make informed decisions about disputing your claim.

Our approach is tailored and comprehensive. Each case is treated with the meticulous attention it deserves, ensuring that your claim reflects the true market value of your vehicle, whether it’s a daily driver or a more unique vehicle often seen in Copart or IAAI auctions.

For Salem residents coping with total loss situations, remember you have an ally in Leverage Auto Appraisals. We are committed to vehicle owners and policyholders, not insurance companies, ensuring your vehicle’s worth is fairly recognized. Reach out to us for expert guidance in achieving a just settlement, as we advocate for your rights and work towards an appropriate compensation for your vehicle.
